No speed limit signs, 25th April
The village has become a rat run between Hexham / Morpeth / ROTHBURY Big Lorry’s & speeding cars make it really unsafe. Should have 30 MPH signs on either side of housed area. I think there will be an accident soon. I have had 2 near misses in my horse. Just vechicles going too fast before they see you. Residents report not being able to walk dogs etc. This is a rural villlagw not a race track.

Large potholes, 4th January
There are large potholes all down this road which are becoming increasingly worse , I work at southwitton therefore I have to use the road regularly, this is becoming extremely expensive as I have had numerous punctures and also had to have my tracking and balancing redone on my vehicle , mounting the grass verge to avoid them is not an option as they are very uneven and muddy and would result in getting stuck

Multiple potholes along 150m stretch of road at Hill End Farm, 4th January
These potholes have been repaired twice in the past 6 months and keep reappearing. The road keeps getting warm away from surface water and heavy traffic. Ideally it needs a new surface which not only repairs the road surface but also to create a new camber to get rid of surface water into drains more effectively.

Debris from vehicle accident, 27th October
Some months ago a car left the road along this stretch, leaving debris strewn over a long section of the verge. The police oversaw the removal of the vehicle but no attempt was made to gather the debris strewn along the roadside verge. This includes car panels, lights, underbody panels, number plate (in a small bush) and assorted other bits and pieces.

Huge pothole unsighted, 9th July
As I make my drive home from Morpeth, up and down the hilly road to Rothley Hall, there are a few potholes but one huge one, unsighted, just over the brow of the hill which will cause an accident to drivers or cyclists/motorcyclists sooner than later so please repair!

C.150m stretch of road in severe disrepair, 15th June
This stretch of road through the farm is in a severe state of disrepair with potholes and uneven road surface along the entire length through the farm. In the past 4 years numerous attempts have been made to patch potholes however within 6 months these fail and make the road even worse. There are three other businesses and households that use this road past the farm on a regular daily basis and makes the situation and condition even worse. We are also looking at setting up a new business for the public and this road condition will not help the situation. Both Heavy and regular traffic use this road and I ask that it can please preferably be resurfaced properly so that future road maintenance funds do not have to be allocated to continually repair potholes. Many thanks

Large tree on council verge disrupting boundary wall foundations, 14th June
This tree was inspected pre storm Arwen by NCC who deemed it needed to be removed due to the impact is was having/ already has had on the wall foundations. It’s an old dear park wall and so 6ft in height. The tree is approx 60ft high and towers over the wall and our garden.
Please may you book in for re-assessment and removal of the tree as we are concerned the wall will shortly collapse with the root system moving underneath.
The telephone wire runs through the middle of the tree for reference in the photograph.

Extremely dangerous road, 1st October
The road at this point is in an extremely dangerous state and has been for years, despite numerous complaints to the council. It has been irresponsibly patched, patched and patched continuously, making it worse and worse and worse. Those patches have detioriated to such a state that drivers are swerving all over the road to try and miss the worst bits which is impossible. They are doing this even if traffic is approaching from the opposite direction. Someone is going to get killed or seriously injured at this location and I witnessed yet another near miss this afternoon. It deperately needs complete re-surfacing, it cannot take any more poor quality patching, that just makes it worse which is there for anyone to see. It is causing a lot of anger locally. The road from this point westwards all the way to Rothley crossroads needs a senior council safety officer to look at it and take urgent action, it is in a shocking, dangerous and totally unacceptable condition.

Dangerous road surface, 6th August
After decades of extremely poor repairs, the last, last year, this bend is in atrocious and extremely dangerous condition. The whole of the bend is dreadful and forcing drivers to swerve all over the road to try and find a smooth way through, whch is impossible, causing danger to approaching traffic. The bend desperately needs complete re-surfacing, it would be idiotic to try and inflict yet more terrible repairs, that would confirm to everyone that Northumberland County Council don't give a toss about road safety.

Drain sticking above ground by a few inches, 22nd April
On the 16/04/19 around 13:40 i was driving towards the Trench from Longwitton. Just before the Old Post Office there was a large farm vehicle coming towards me on the other side of the road. Which made me have to move over and in doing so my front left wheel ran over some iron drain. The road surface around this drain is so eroded that the drain was raised several cm's above the road. This caused irreparable damage to my my wheel and tyre.

Dangerous tree, 5th April
2 x beech trees that are on private property adjacent to the road. They both suffered huge damage a few months ago in high winds. One lost a huge, low bough which also removed one third of the girth of the trunk leaving this tree with insufficient trunk to support the rest of the tree above. There is little doubt that the next high winds will bring this tree down onto the roadway with potentially fatal results. The owners of the property do not appear to be doing anything to make this tree safe. It is a real shame, but what is left of this once beautiful tree urgently needs to be felled. The second tree to the east of this one needs an expert to examine it to ensure that it is safe. Thank you.

Dangerous road surface, 23rd February
The road surface has disintegrated over the whole surface of the road at this bend and is in a dangerous condition. I was nearly wiped out by a driver this morning who swerved into my path as he was so busy concentrating on the road surface and not on oncoming traffic. He was trying to avoid the dreadful surface on his side even though it is terrible over both sides of the roads. This bend needs urgent complete permanent re-surfacing please, not patching which will just make it worse. Thank you.
