Speed indicator failure, 12th November
The speed indicator is not working for 8-10 weeks. In addition the board should be updated to one that tells the vehicle speed. Speeding through the village of Whalton is a major problem, the 20 mph limit is followed by very few add the fact many of those speeding are HGV/ agricultural vehicles.

Absence of Lighting and state of pavement, 7th November
Dear Sir
Whalton, B6524, between junction with Shilvington Lane and junction with road to Ogle
I would like to draw your attention to some issues with regard to the road and the pavement in the above location.
There is a 20 mph limit here. However, it is rarely adhered to, and as far as I am aware there has been no enforcement of the limit, hence no deterrent. The worst offenders are tractors, lorries and motorbikes.
This problem is made exacerbated by the fact that a substantial length of the pavement here is difficult to use, particularly if you have a pram or a mobility aid. The hedge in places grows into the space above the pavement and some lengths of garden wall look unsafe with loose stonework. Both these factors, in conjunction with a grass and often muddy verge, compel pedestrians to walk in the road.
Now that it gets dark in late afternoon, all this is made even worse by the fact that there is no street-lighting in this area of the road. The rest of the village has ample street-lighting.
I think there is a health and safety issue here and trust you will look into it.
Thank you
