Water flowing across the road and freezing and a pothole in the same place, 2nd December

Sat, 02 Dec 2023 12:05:53 +0000
55.184571 -2.336248

The drainage on one side of the road is blocked causing water to flow across the road. The is a pothole in the same place I suspect caused by the collapse of the under road pipe as there was recently another pothole across the road that has been repaired. The pothole has clearly not been caused by traffic wear as it is a dip not a hole in the surface of the road.

Solid ice complewtely across the road for 20 m, 2nd December

Sat, 02 Dec 2023 11:53:06 +0000
55.182776 -2.338919

The water runs off from the field straight onto the road all the time in wet weather. It freezes over and can last a week or two in cold weather. There really needs to be a ditch or a pipe under the road to be done in the summer. For now a pile of grit near by would help.

A Blocked - Flooding of Road/Path problem has been found, 15th May

Mon, 15 May 2023 12:53:20 +0100
55.179374 -2.323023

Otterburn turnoff to front entrance of Land of Joy, used to be Greenhaugh Hall. number of them blocked, roadside drain. flooding & drains in village - nearly flooded houses. A number of Drains in Greenhaugh on the U5040 are blocked and need cleaning out to prevent flooding which has happened before and flooded houses and threatened the school in Greenhaugh. In addition the open roadside drain on the RHS that runs from the Otterburn on the U5040 turn off to the top of the Greenhaugh bank is blocked due to vehicles going in to it and it floods down the front drive of Land of Joy at Greenhaugh Hall. From the top of the Greenhaugh bank to beyond Greenhaugh county primary school all grates need attention. There is also a blocked under road culvert at the junction beyond turn off to the Comb and Thorneyburn and that roadside drain needs attention too. Additional Information The drains need clearing of vegetation, and dug out and the grids need clearing of vegetation and pumped out as they are not flowing and full of grit. This leads to flooding in Greenhaugh and can make road impassable at the Greenhaugh bridge and on the road to thorneyburn with flood water and sheet ice on the road in wintery conditions. Lett's need to be dug to allow road water into the roadside drains.
