Vast pothole that has been missed this week., 12th April

Fri, 12 Apr 2024 08:36:57 +0100
55.11825 -2.02434

This vast pothole is still accepting migrating ducks but I believe the salmon is deceased because of the amount of mud on the road. Your team has done a fantastic job of repairing all of the other potholes in the village, but this mahoosive one is the main culprit leading us to swerve to avoid it. It's crater like! Please come back with a truck load of tar. It's been there for months and is trying to get on the electoral register!

Huge abyss of a pothole!, 4th April

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 18:42:13 +0100
55.117251 -2.026973

Perched strategically at the bend in the road near the copse, this ever-growing pothole is positively lakelike now! Haven't got my tape measure out, but it is so deep, I'm think ducks are enjoying daily swims on it and I'm sure I saw a salmon jumping in it on Easter Sunday! I know you've been out this week to repair potholes on 'the avenue of trees" leading into the village (thank you thank you thank you) but I'm fairly sure we're going to lose a car into this mahoosive pothole soon! You might need to bring some sort of suction device to rid the pothole of its voluminous quantity of muddy water but you'll definitely need a truck load of tarmac to fill it! Bring a fishing rod to catch the salmon first. Thank you so much.

Cattle grid is full of water and mud, 4th April

Thu, 04 Apr 2024 18:28:19 +0100
55.117251 -2.026973

The cattle grid leading to the village is completely full of water and mud. This is allowing the livestock in the farmer's field, to cross tge cattle grid and get into the village where they are not only getting into gardens but are also a hazard for cars, as well as being dangerous to the residents - there have been incidents in the past of animals charging at people.

Water on road, 26th February

Mon, 26 Feb 2024 15:33:14 +0000
55.101927 -2.020497

Water coming onto road at point marked on map, running down road to west and then tracking across both sides of the road at the junction to Hallington. Severe deterioration of the road surface at the junction ( have previously reported pothole ) Water then pools just within Hallington road and I have had to divert the water onto my land as very dangerous when frozen. This problem has continued for all of the winter and I think it has to do with a blocked field drain on the north side of the road at the point where the water comes onto the main road. I have tried to contact the owner of the land but so far he hasn’t returned my call.

Over the past few weeks, a number of potholes have become significantly deeper on the road through Great Bavington from the turning at the B6342 - the road leading down to the first cattle grid is riddled with potholes. Coming past the first cattle grid and towards the copse, towards Great Bavington, there are a number of very large potholes which can no longer be avoided as they are so large.

55.104319 -2.018374

Water is constantly running downhill, then across the carriageway on the corner before Little Bavington on the B6342. This makes the corner dangerous, extremely dangerous in low temperatures, when it washes the grit away and turns to ice.

Big bumps, holes, mud, flooding, animals, very poor repairs, you name it., 24th June

Sat, 24 Jun 2023 10:14:56 +0100
55.118437 -2.021967

The condition of this stretch of road is very bad at the best of times, bumps, holes, mud, flooding, animals, you name it. A number of repairs have been attempted over the years which to be frank have made the condition worse. The cost of repairing my car due to this is now becoming a problem. This is a public road and I should not have to keep replacing tries, wheels and suspension components due to a public road that is your responsibility to maintain. I also pay a high band of council tax here I may add. This has been a problem for at least 5 years.

Worst road in the UK, 2nd June

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 13:47:20 +0100
55.114631 -2.010698

The entire road from Kirkharle crossroads to Bavington Hill Head needs to be completely resurfaced it is so far gone. The council have spent considerable time marking the road presumably for further patching which anyone with a modicum of common sense can see will be yet another complete and criminal waste of public money. Yet more patching will turn the potholes into pothills as we are seeing all over the place. This road brings people into Wallington Hall which is the jewel in Northumberland's crown and visitors are always complaining this is the worst road they have ever travelled on. I witnessed yet another near accident this morning, driver's concentrate on the terrible surface and frequently have to swerve all over the road to avoid it, particularly outside Merryshields farm where you have to slow to 10 mph maximum, the road is that bad. This angers and frustrates following drivers causing road rage, I watched it happen yet again this morning with a vehicle 3 in front of me. This road is a fatal accident waiting to happen such is the impact it is having on driver's concentration it is so bad. If the road is just patched again there will be a lot of taxpayers extremely angry and annoyed, please, please, get it all resurfaced before someone is killed. There is maybe 200 yards of decent surface between Kirkharle and Bavington Hill Head, a distance of about 1 and 3/4 miles. I understand the difficulties of budget cuts but this really is a priority. Thank you.

Bad road surfaces., 23rd December

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 12:45:29 +0000
55.1136377847876 -2.01034324975078

Several areas of extremely poor road surfaces which have been there too long and which continue to deteriorate north of Bavington Hill Head farm. Vehicles have to drive in the middle of the road to find a decent surface. Needs proper resurfacing rather than more patching which will just cause pothills and be a waste of money. We've suffered this dreadful road for too long from Kirkharle to Colwell, can we have it properly and permanently resurfaced please?

This piece of road just past the cottages at Little Bavington on both sides of the road is terrible and very dangerous for cyclists and motor cyclists. Motorists frequently are seen swerving all over the road to try and find an undamaged surface but there isn't any. It needs complete and proper resurfacing please.
