Report on FixMyStreet
The items in the photo above have been dumped under the tree on Avocet Mews. The items are growing in numbers as you can see. It was only the bed, mattress and bed frame as of last week. I suspect more items will be tipped before the morning because the occupier of either number 25 or 24 Avocet mews (not sure of house number) is currently having his garden fence replaced with a new one and already I can see mounds of debris likely to end up under the tree between tonight and tomorrow. A pallet wooden structure and heavy duty waste bags have already been dumped under the tree between 9am and 10am this morning. If you attend now, you’ll be able to identify the correct house near the big tree in the cul de sac part of Avocet mews. When you turn into Avocet mews from Goldfinch road, take the second right turn and drive down the cul de sac, you’ll see the mounds of rubbish/items photographed. On Wren path adjoining Avocet mews near the said tree, you’ll see the male working on his garden fence ripping out the old wooden fence and replacing it., 2nd May
Fly tipping blights this area, it’s inconsiderate, selfish and wicked to other residents like me who have to wake up to the mounds of rubbish particularly under this tree. The male occupier of number 28 Avocet mews has a piece of furniture placed right on the footpath. I believe he placed this item there because it has been in front of his house for about 10 days now. He drives a SUV car yet he is so lazy and inconsiderate of others that he chooses to leave furniture on pavement rather than take it in his vehicle to Nathan Way Thamesmead or pay £10 to the council to collect it. You need to investigate these people and bring them to justice. Enough is Enough!!!

Litter. Please clean our street., 2nd May
Hello, there is a lot of litter that needs clearing outside the church here. But there is also litter lining the whole street. The street is meant to be cleared of litter every week but it is not. It has not been in several weeks now and it is building up. I have complained about this many times in phone and writing and have been assured that it will be cleared of litter every week but it has not. There is meant to be a street cleanse today, please please clean our street

Furniture placed on the footpath on Avocet Mews in the cul de sac at the same location near the big tree. This piece of furniture has been there for about 10 days and it is believed to belong to the occupier of the house opposite where it is placed. The man has a SUV car so I don’t know why he can’t take the furniture toNathan way to be recycled. My fear is that this piece of furniture will be moved and fly tipped somewhere else on the Estate. This could be hazardous for children playing outside and around the footpath should this furniture have exposed nails., 2nd May
Please investigate to identify the owner of this furniture fly tipped on the pavement. It has been there for about 10 days and will probably soon move under the tree or tipped behind the walls under the cover of darkness.

Canal has scum floating on it, 1st May
The canal has a thick layer of scum floating on the surface. It looks awful and is bad for the wildlife. This canal is the worst one in Thamesmead; the others have all been cleaned up but this one is still overgrown with no water flow, 4 years after I first reported it to Peabody. Why is West Thamesmead so neglected? The canals in Central/South Thamesmead don't look like this.

Wheelie Bins along 200-214 Burrage Road left on pavements continuously, 1st May
Persistent problem of residential wheelie bins being left on the public walkway even though there is ample space to store them within property lines. Hazardous for wheelchair users as they have to go onto the road at some points to get past them. The bins are left out all week, permanently and has been an ongoing problem for at least the past year. The wheelie bins on pavements attract loose litter to gather around them and also attract pedestrians to put their litter into the bins, resulting in mixed and improper sorting of waste.

Constant problem of amounts of loose litter and flytipping along Burrage Road, including, bin bags that have been torn open, pieces of furniture, used sanitary products, food packaging, and cardboard. The same pieces have been here for over two or three weeks.
Could more regular street checkups and cleaning be administered here?

The usual fly tipping under the tree on the cul de sac part of Avocet Mews. This an ongoing problem that won’t resolve until a secret camera is planted and the culprits named and shamed on social media plus a fine and/or imprisonment penalty to send a message to the culprits., 30th April
Under the cover of darkness, a resident around here has deposited two beds and bed frames under the tree on Avocet mews cul de sac. My garden backs on to Avocet Mews where this tree is located. The tree is opposite my bedroom window so I and other neighbours wake up to this ugly sight. Please kindly arrange the removal of this rubbish as soon as possible. Thank you.
