FIXMYSTREET IN LE8 0LS
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of LE8 0LS:
Blocked drains - from all the fallen leaves, 29th December
The picture is of the drain outside no42 Main Street, Fishers Farm. It was completely blocked and there was standing water on the road. I have extracted two wheelbarrows full of leaves and sludge but there are so many leaves still on the road it will soon fill up again. I suspect several other drains across the village are in the same condition. Please can you send a road sweeper to pick up the leaves and something to suck out all the drains. I live at the bottom of the hill and so all the water ends up in my front garden when the drains are blocked and then its only a matter of time before it comes in the house.

Missing/collapsed waymarks on RoW, 1st January
At various points along the footpath which leads from the canal aqueduct up to the Saddington Reservoir the yellow-topped waymarkers have collapsed (rotted through at the base) and/or disappeared. This makes the route across the series of pastures unclear and it’s tempting for walkers to stray the wrong side of the various watercourses. It is otherwise well waymarked at either end of this section

Footpath and stiles in poor state of repair, 1st January
The footpath here between the canal towpath and the interesting public footpath below the aqueduct is in a poor state, with dilapidated stiles at either end and, since the narrow steep muddy and slippery path is edged from the adjacent field with barbed wire, is dangerous. A slip all too easily results in the user being caught on the barbed wire.
This seems a shame since this footpath is evidently in regular use

Broken footpath marker post, 1st January
The yellow-topped marker post beside the aqueduct underpass has rotted through at the base, and had fallen over into the woodland. I have propped it up to make it visible again, but it needs replacing or repairing

No available route between RoW and canal towpath, 1st January
There is no easy/safe way to get between the adjacent public rights of way (footpaths), one of which crosses the canal on a bridge, and the canal towpath. The various gates here have been wired up with barbed wire, so difficult to get over/through safely.

Footpaths across two fields not reinstated, 31st August
On 30 August 2022 I was walking with an organised group and encountered a footpath which was ploughed and not reinstated, making walking extremely difficult not helping my wife & I recovering from medical problems in our legs and feet ! Surface was in a deplorable state mainly large lumps of dry earth. The worst sections were in the two fields adjacent to the wooded area at map ref 698908. Could a check be made to ascertain whether the owner(s) of these fields has conformed with the legal requirements relating to restoration of the path surfaces.
