Two gates either side of bridge difficult to navigate on horseback, 6th March
There are two gates one each side of bridge. I couldn’t select gates when making report - does this mean Council are not aware?
The first gate from Northamptonshire GA6 bridleway is metal, heavy to pull open with one hand. As it swings back quickly it’s difficult to prevent it hitting horse/rider and potentially causing injury. The latch isn’t working but if it was it would be low down for riders on larger horses to reach. A hunter type handle would be better if poss. As the field before bridge is set to crops and no livestock - does the gate need to be weighted?
The second gate Leicestershire side of bridge is easier but still weighted. As this continues as a bridleway with hedge either side is there need for a gate at all?

Partially blocked drain that needs raising near Bridge over River Welland., 23rd June
This drain runs but is silted up, needs a jet. It needs raising. It does a good job of clearing surface water just before the bridge as cars speed down the B664 hill towards medbourn. If blocked surface water forms and cars aquas plane into the bridge wall. This happened previously and is why the bridge is being repaired. Fix this and you stop that problem. The drain is not recorded on your system and is located at the lead in to the bridge, further down from the indicated drain. There are bridge works taking place in spetrember that will close the road. This would give you the opportunity to fix this drain and clear the second drain from the top with the road closed. You should coordinate. This drain near the bridge needs recording on your system. Reported by Ashley Parish Council.
