Massive pothole caused multiple punctures on drivers side, 19th February

Mon, 19 Feb 2024 19:20:08 +0000
54.327972 -2.931889

Happened on the 15th Feb 24 at about 17:30pm and I've been trying to report it to the council since then, but the reporting tool is down. Today is 19th Feb. Drivers rear tyre dangerous blew out instantly, whilst the front right was flat by the following afternoon (and has had to be replaced also). Together with an additional night stopover (because my tyres weren't in stock) its been an expensive incident for fixable and previously reported problem.

Lay by in very poor repair . Trip, slips and falls hazard, 17th January

Mon, 17 Jan 2022 17:22:28 +0000
54.311378 -2.944053

The constant flooding has now caused further damage to the lay by and the area around my garage and down to Tower Wood Cottage. The lay by currently presents a health and safety risk, there are pot holes, loose gravel, thick mud, raised drain cover and broken kerb edges, all of which present the potential for slip trips and falls. The lay by is regularly used by residence, tourists visiting the area , pedestrians/hikers , buses and also coaches dropping off children and young people to Tower Wood outdoor education centre. I appreciate this may not be high on the councils priority, but it is long overdue at the very least some remedial action and at the best resurfacing.

Blocked grids causing serious flooding, 17th January

Mon, 17 Jan 2022 17:17:53 +0000
54.311378 -2.944053

There are 10 drains in the area , but the only effective one is the one located at the bottom of the footpath that takes you up to Park Cliffe Caravan Park, as soon as that gets covered with leaves, we suffer floods. This then causes damage to the lay by opposite and the land around my garage ( this is subject of a separate fix my streets ) . I and my Neighbours have spent too many hours stood knee high in water clearing the drain. The area is subject to an annual cleaning programme, there is a need for these drains to be physically dug out , they are blocked solid with mud, the gully wagon and jetter will not touch these.

Loose manhole cover which clanks loudly every time a vehicle passes over it., 15th September

Sun, 15 Sep 2019 19:22:37 +0100
54.339106 -2.933158

The manhole cover is on the A592 about 10 yards north of the Old Mill Crescent entrance (opposite Storrs Hall Hotel) on the north bound carriageway, ie heading towards Bowness. It is approximately 100 yards south of the hotel entrance. Every time a vehicle travels over it it makes a loud clanking noise. It has been previously reported, but no action appears to have been taken and the noise is getting worse.

State of repair of the lay by situated outside the outdoor education centre at Tower Wood and the lane going down towards Tower Wood Cottage., 8th April

Mon, 08 Apr 2019 15:50:11 +0100
54.311344 -2.944209

The Lay by is in a poor state of repair, there are raised curbs that present a trip hazard, the road surface is uneven and broken . Between the main carriageway and the lay by itself, there is a verge which is predominantly loose stone, This area regularly floods ( Please see my previous report on this) as a result of the constant flow of water , the loose stone is regularly swept across the lay by, again causing a slip/trip hazard for pedestrians.( I regularly end up sweeping these stones back to the verge) The water has also caused pot holes and ruts down the lane between the garage and Burrow cottage/House. The lay by has become in need of repair and is now very unsightly. With all the work taking place a long the A 592 at the moment, would it be possible for this issue to be addressed before more damage is caused or someone slips and injures themselves.

Blocked Drains causing flooding and damage to the adjacent layby, 8th April

Mon, 08 Apr 2019 15:25:18 +0100
54.311344 -2.944209

I am the owner of Burrow Cottage, Tower Wood. As you are aware the A592 at this location regularly floods as it is situated in a dip. There are 6 drains in this vicinity from Burrow Beck, north up past the Leisure Centre. Prior to the last heavy rain w/c 18/3/19, 4 of these were totally blocked and had been reported, resulting in the one at the base of the footpath to Park Cliffe Caravan Park becoming blocked with surface debris, causing substantial flooding. The continual flooding in this area has caused significant damage to the lay by at this location and the lane going down towards Tower wood Cottage. I will submit a further report regarding the damage to the lay by etc

Public right of way obstructed, 29th March

Fri, 29 Mar 2019 20:35:48 +0000
54.33632 -2.93391

Awkward gates (either new or reapinted but they didn't used to be closed so no problem.) Historically there were no gates here (check the old maps) so these are presumably unlawful. They are bolted into the ground on the north side which means it is not convenient to open from the south (try taking a horse through the bypass gate!) There was then a vehicle parked (reg LE15URE) blocking the way with only a narrow gap - it was the only vehicle parked there so plenty of space to park without obstructing the way. If I had been in car or horse-drawn vehicle it would have been a impassable, For horse, motorcycle or even mountain bike it was a squeeze.

New occupants trying to deter or stop access., 29th March

They are bolted into the ground on the north side which means it is not convenient to open from the south (try taking a horse through the bypass gate!) There was a car parked blocking the way leaving only a narrow gap - there were no other vehicles at the premises so lots of room for it to be parked elsewhere but someone chose to restrict the way. This is a byway open to all traffic so if I had been in a car or horse-drawn vehicle it would have been impassable. Even for horse, motorcycle or cycle it was a squeeze.
