Temporary Speed Camera, 13th November
Whilst driving into Bury St Edmunds on A143 at approximately 15:45 today (13/11/23), I noticed the speed camera was showing erratic speeds at 39, 33 & 36 mph. I had maintained a 29/30 mph speed at Clarice House and on the approach into town. There were no other vehicles in my vicinity at this point but the winds were high with lots of small debris flying around. (Including leaves & small twigs). I cannot say this was the cause of the figures shown on the camera but think the camera might need to be checked for accuracy.

Six, mainly large, potholes on the edge of the A143 in Horringer at the entrance to the Community Centre., 8th February
The potholes have been there for about 6 weeks and are becoming larger by the week. They measure approx. 41" x 19", 27" x 25", 38" x 14", 31" x 22", 25" x 21" and 19" x 15". They vary in depth from 2" to 4". The last one is situated about 2 ft up the driveway, but all the others are constantly driven over by vehicles at speed. They need fixing asap or there will be an accident. My son had a puncture this week simply leaving the driveway to get onto the road.

Severely flooded road., 14th December
The ditch seems to be blocked at a house entrance and the water floods onto the road, the road drain also seems to be blocked (or can't cope with the volume of water) as water also pours UP out of the drain and not into it. After rain there is enough volume to flood the whole road for 200 or 300 yards until it finds an exit back into the ditch. These past few days it has been deep enough at times that cars are unable to get through.

Flooding in road from catchment pit/soakaway, 18th November
For a few months now there has been a constant presence of water on this stretch of road, see photo. The local residents are concerned that when we get to freezing weather this will be a dangerous hazard to both cars and pedestrians. We have had Anglian Water out to look at it but they say it isn’t one of their assets and that we should contact Highways. We have done that but their website says it isn’t them either and that we should contact yourselves. Anglian Water lifted up to manholes and can see that there must be a blockage in one of the links and this is causing the flooding.

Recent tree felling, 28th June
Tree felling work too place a couple of weeks ago on Hornbeam Drive, Horringer. Undertaken by Forest Heath DC and St.Eds Borough Council they have left something akin to a scene of devastation. The beautiful screen of trees opposite my home now has a gaping hole in it exposing a disfigured rotting tree and tree stumps that have become a de facto adventure playground. These along with piles of logs which have not been removed are a danger to children as are the piles of logs that have been stacked on private property which was recently cleared for building work. I would like the vandalism committed by FHDC & St.Eds BC to be put right and returned to something approximating its former beauty.

Deep Pot Holes Starting again, 2nd November
The Pot Holes in Gypsy Lane are now starting to grow bigger and deeper. I know it is a big problem every year but they will only get a lot worse if not treated now. They also fill up with water after rain so it becomes difficult to see them. The Horsecroft Road end are the worst.
