FIXMYSTREET IN IV14 9AN
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of IV14 9AN:
Badly broken concrete cover on post office telephones access point on right hand side approaching Strathpeffer, 13th March
The recent freezing temperatures have cause a large crack in the cover of a post office / telephones access point in the middle of the pavement between Nutwood House drive and Castle Leod drive. It is large enough for things to fall into it and could cause a pedestrian serious harm if they stepped on the gap inadvertently and the stone were to give way. It looks quite fragile now.

All three street drains below Fife Lodge are permantly blocked. Would it help if thet were repurposed and lanted with flowers or trees?, 26th August
All three street drains below Fife Lodge have been permanantly blocked this year. Without authorisation, induction courses, training, full PPE or a risk assessment, I undertook unauthorised management duties on Highland Councils property.. Today, I cleared the long section of the higher road of all the extensive gutter debris including compacted leaves along with gravel and stones from the disintigrating road surface. This higher section of road 'feeds' debris into the lower road with the blocked drains. I cannt remember when it was last this clean? Would it help if I repurposed these blocked drains with flowering plants and shrubs? Will I receive a reduction of my council tax for the work undertaken?

Sinkhole on A834 in Strathpeffer, 23rd August
This pothole has re-emerged after being patched around 2 years ago by the council. The surface of the road around it is hollow and in my opinion is highly likely to collapse even further and increase in size if its not dealt with. Filling it with tarmac like happened last time simply blocks the pipe that connects to the drain and in time heavy rain will wash it all away again. The drain itself needs digging up to assess the extent of the problem, and not just filling in with another temporary fix, but properly repairing. This is dangerous pothole, especially to the many cyclists that use the A834 through the village, and it's only question of time before one of the larger lorries or tankers heading SW crash through it.

Blocked drains and gulleys all over strathpeffer, 3rd August
So many drains now blocked all over the village, some full of debris others full of weeds and have been for an unknown time When it rains the water pours right down past white cottage almost flooding in the house and carries on down to the village square and beyond causing flooding everywhere where you have to wade down the street

Blocked Drains, 3rd August
I have reported these blocked drains to Highland Council on two separate occasions this year and nothing has transpired. In the event of a flash flood from a thunderstorm these blocked drains don't help at all at stopping a torrent of water coming down the A834 at the eastern end of the village and flooding properties. This is the second time I've reported them on FixMyStreet.com. My wife has just spoken to the operatives in Dingwall asking them if they're coming to Strathpeffer soon. They replied "we only do Dingwall" who the hell is responsible for Strathpeffer then?

Blocked drains all the way down road, 31st May
Nearly every drain down the hill is blocked and this causes rainwater to further damage the already eroded road as it has nowhere to go.

Blocked Drain, 2nd May
There are many blocked drains in Strathpeffer. Many are silted up and have been for many years. This one has been blocked for a long time. Surprisingly the road around it was completely resurfaced last year but Highland Council didn't think to unblock it at the time! It wasn't their department. Block drains along the A834 as it rises through the village cause serious problems when we get cloud burst in the summer months, as the rain water that should have gone down this one (from a side road up the hill yo Ardival) just cascade into the next one.

Collapsed kerb, 2nd May
This damage was caused by flash flooding in 2019 and was never properly fixed. This pavement is regularly used by locals and visitors alike to get down to the Old Railway Station and is dangerous for anyone that tries to use it. Strathpeffer is regarded as a 'Gem in the Highlands' by many, try telling that to Highland Council.

10 yards of potholes, 2nd May
A large area of broken road surface that has now expanded to cover the entire westbound carriageway of the A834. Some drivers try to avoid it by driving in the middle of the road which once again is a potential RTA in the making. Highland Council rarely if ever fix the road surface in Strathpeffer. It's overdue for resurfacing but keeps getting delayed.

100 cm elongated split, 2nd May
Not really hole but more a long 100 cm deep trench has become longer as more of the newer surface is eroded. Vehicles swerve to avoid it heading east bound by driving down the centre of the carriageway. As it's just after a bend in the road this means drivers can't tell if drivers west bound are doing the same thing to avoid sunken drains and potholes on their side. Why this pothole has not resulted in an RTA before now defies belief. Highland Council are not interested in fixing any holes on the A834 through the village and I've given up trying to alert them.
