FIXMYSTREET IN HR4 0ES
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of HR4 0ES:
Hedgerow overgrowing footpath, 14th May
West Side footpath of the a49, between the starting gate roundabout and the Holmer parish hall, the hedgerow has massively overgrown, narrowing to about 40cm width in places, and under 1.5m in head/hight clearance.
It's extremely dangerous with massive heavy goods vehicles (due to no bypass) coming within inches of the pavement, we've had several close calls. Also, cars come screaming off the starting gate roundabout doing 50-60 in the early evening (8pm), with a pedestrian balancing on the curb stone as they inch past the overgrown hedges...recipe for disaster. Need a speed camera too.
Hasn't been cut in the last 3 years we've been walking the dog along that pavement daily.
I've seen wheelchair users cross the road from West to East at the starting gate (dangerous) to head north on the other side of the a49, to cross back over to the west wide at the pedestrian lights.
As Hereford Council keep pushing walking and public transport rather than building a much needed bypass/ring road, then you'd think the footpaths would be maintained to actually allow people to use them. No idea how a mother with a pram would manage along there.

Smart lights now dumb, 30th April
Traffic lights used to be smart prior to road closure to add a footpath on the north bound road. By smart, I mean if there was no traffic and a single car approached the lights, they would turn green for the car. Now, no matter what time of day, a single vehicle has to wait for the lights to slowly cycle through all junctions, even if the other junctions are empty/have no cars.

Dumb traffic lights to bloor homes estate, 30th April
Traffic lights are red for all sides at night, meaning cars have to slow down to a stop, wait, and then accelerate once green. This is causing unnecessary brake dust, tyre wear, fuel emissions, noise pollution and at times frustration from drivers who at 2am sit there honking their horn waiting for a light to turn green with no one else at any other junction. Hereford Council really need to stop allowing the installation of dumb lights, traffic is already bad without making it worse and adding to pollution!

Traffic lights fault, 26th April
A49 northbound at asda roundabout i.e heading towards the city centre coming from the south. Traffic lights are only green for a very short period of time meaning that traffic jams are often 2 or 3 miles in the morning for the last 3 days. Have timings been changed to these lights resulting this is a fault? Please investigate. Thanks
