Uneven surface, 1st December

Fri, 01 Dec 2023 18:49:01 +0000
54.007813 -1.579163

The beige, quick fix, “safety surface”, has unsurprisingly become more of a hazard than any original problem. Chipped off, worn away, uneven and DANGEROUS. If my wheels are bobbing up and down they’re not in constant contact with the road surface are they? This, of course, increases braking distance. DO NOT USE THIS STUFF. Tarmac. That’s what you want.

Temporary Traffic Lights Not Working Right Causing Major Back-ups, 17th November

Fri, 17 Nov 2023 16:45:38 +0000
53.994617 -1.586111

The temporary Traffic Lights at the jubilee roundabout in Harrogate are not timed correctly and are causing major backups especially down Pot Bank. The four way Lights are ridiculous and Penny Pot Lane should simply be closed for the duration of the road works and a diversion route should be indicated instead.

The path is dangerously overgrown., 3rd August

Thu, 03 Aug 2023 16:26:18 +0100
54.006678 -1.578174

The path is unsafe due to overgrown grass/woodlands/ etc etc. The path is used a lot by both pedestrians and cyclists and is dangerously overgrown (possibly 50% of its width covered) and slippery. It needs cleaning up and would not be a big job at all. It hasn’t been looked at for over a year - and when it was last done was only after my mother in law had slipped and we messaged on here. Thanks.

No street lighting or pavement on B6161, 31st October

Mon, 31 Oct 2022 14:47:07 +0000
54.005638 -1.579546

We leave in a complex of 6 houses all originating from Killinghall Moor Farm. There is no pavement or street lighting as the road is a B road B6161 and very busy, from the roundabout with A59. However now after the new converted houses within our complex there is a lot more activity on foot - walking to the Curious Cow pub and walking dogs etc - The traffic is very fast and there are potholes in the grass verge which are impossible to see at night. We ideally need a lampost fitting between the crossing to the pub and the shared drive entrance to our houses. Please feel free to visit. This issue has been going on for the last 10 years but it is only this year there is now 6 houses all with 2 or 3 cars each. We also have older people living in these properties who fall easily so a light and pavement would help immensley.

Nasty pothole, 6th October

Thu, 06 Oct 2022 18:45:21 +0100
54.005567 -1.613538

There is a pothole just before you come to the brow of the hill, you cannot see it until you hit it. It has grown considerably since the google street map view I posted. It is a fast road & should be maintained MUCH better. A nasty pothole, causing a heavy enough bump to jar my glovebox open. I hope my suspension is ok.

Closed junction, 14th February

Mon, 14 Feb 2022 04:42:52 +0000
54.005048 -1.618186

People over take when they get to the hill before this junction and they see you pulling out and you can’t see them. There should be a solid white line and and sign. I’ve nearly had collision on more then one occasion and my did have one. You look left look right check left ago and by the time you pull out, you pull round the corner and some one has started to over take

Creating a driveway, 20th December

Mon, 20 Dec 2021 19:20:25 +0000
54.003267 -1.572432

A house on Teasel Grove has decided to put an entrance/ access onto his drive from Jennyfields Drive. He has removed a fence panel and has dug up across the public pavement. The access is next to a ginnel and part way round a blind corner in a main road. No planning permission has been sought and this is highly dangerous. The man is unapproachable and claims he had bought the pavement so he is able to do this

Dangerous exposed raised ironwork, 22nd November

Mon, 22 Nov 2021 14:14:55 +0000
54.015699 -1.616942

There is a very sharp exposed corner of a piece of ironwork just off the tarmac in the grass verge. This is quite a narrow section of road where it is often necessary to just touch on the grass when passing large vehicles. It instantly tore a hole in my partners tyre when passing an SUV. She was only travelling at a crawl as she had stopped to let them pass and was turning right at the junction.

Dangerous junction, inadequate line painting., 20th November

Sat, 20 Nov 2021 21:44:50 +0000
54.005153 -1.616988

This junction is very dangerous, cars coming over the brow of the hill from the Harrogate direction travelling towards Skipton cannot properly see there is a turning and very often make an overtake manoeuvre when descending the hill towards the junction. Cars pulling out of Grayston Plain Lane turning left are looking more right than left to check for traffic on the carriageway they are pulling onto. This whole section from the brow of the hill to Grayston Plain Lane should be solid double white lines, preventing dangerous overtakes.
