No road junction markings and poor Road surface., 23rd August
The road surface on Fairway and in particular the rising part of Station Rd is very poor and eroding. It was replaced several months ago and the gravel is still loose on the top of the road causing a skid hazard as often seen. The top layer of road has already come away in many places to the extent of a twisted ankle caused by level drop in the middle of the road. The junction markings have not be replaced, causing several near misses between Fairway and Station Rd, exacerbated by the loose surface. We’ve dug out the hydrant point but many road covers and drains significantly covered or tarmaced into place. Having seen several near misses this is a major safety concern.

Street lights don’t turn on until 22:20., 23rd August
The top half of Station Road and the adjoining part of Fairway’s street lights have been late to turn on since a recent power cut. As the nights are drawing in and there is no pavement up to the station this is a real safety concern. Especially with the road condition and missing road markings at the junction.

There are only two street lights at the northern section of Smiddy Court, one has not worked for over a month and the second one lights up early evening but switches off between 10.00 and 11.00pm every night leaving the road in complete darkness. Of the 4 flats and 4 houses in this section of Smiddy Court three are occupied by older residents who have very limited mobility and the street lighting malfunctioning is causing them great concern for their safety and security.
