In addition to the previously reported cycle lane defender that was knocked into the cycle lane and then plonked on the broken bolts, other cycle lane defenders have been knocked out of position (previously reported in March 2023). There are at least three and they are at both sides of the road.

A9, Bridge of Allan: Cycle lane defender plonked down on broken bolts rather than bolted down, 12th December
Along the A9 travelling southwards from the Keir roundabout, just before Bridge of Allan. Over the weekend Stirling Council moved the cycle lane defender from where it was blocking the cycle lane and plonked it down on the broken bolts rather than bolting it down. This means the defender, if hit by a moving vehicle, will not defend the cycle lane. Instead it will be a projectile. Stirling Council is required to make Category 1 road defects safe within 12 hours. You have failed to do so. So you need to get onto it, pronto.

A9 just before Bridge of Allan: Bollard/separator knocked by motor vehicle right into the cycle lane., 8th December
On the A9, travelling south from the Keir Roundabout, just before Bridge of Allan, on the left. One of the cycle lane protectors/bollards/separators has been knocked so that it blocks the cycle lane. (As can be seen from the photos, the leaves on the cycle lane also contribute to the danger, hiding the edge of the curb and forcing cyclists into the path of the obstacle.) As this creates risk of serious injury to cyclists it is a Category 1 hazard and therefore must be fixed within 12 hours. At the same time I expect you to check ALL the separators on both sides of the road, some of which have been knocked and are slightly out of position. It is likely the bolts have been sheered and they too could be knocked into the cycle lanes.

Blocked drain in road, Raw sewage leak, 21st September
Hi, just highlighting a significant sanitation issue in Graham Road next to Memorial Park. Raw sewage is seeping across the road from what seems to be a blocked drain towards the north end of the road.

It can be found on Henderson St, Bridge of Allan, travelling east towards the University. It is on the carriageway just after Graham Street and opposite the beginning of the Memorial Park..

Flooding on cycle lane A9 between Bridge of Allan and Causewayhead when it rains. The first place where this occurs are between Bridge of Allan (heading south-eastwards) to the University turnoff. The second place is where the cycle lane is close to Wallace High School. The gratings and waterflow on these sections need to the checked. Also the lines are wearing off the road. Some maintenance is required, please.

Bridge of Allan: Cycle lane bollards have been knocked and the cycle lane has not been swept to remove debris, 8th March
Bridge of Allan: Cycle lane bollards have been knocked and are out of position - this has actually been reported to Stirling Council previously. If the knocked bollards are not repositioned and bolted down then they will not adequately protect cyclists. In addition, the cycle lane has not been swept at all for the last 16 months to remove debris. This means the lanes are dirty and slippery in the wet. Both these problems could easily be fixed.

The Glen Road from Bridge of Allan to Kippenrait Glen, 1st March
The Glen Road from Bridge of Allan to Kippenrait Glen. (Part of the Sustrans 765 route from Bridge of Allan to Dunblane. Just before the end of the tarmacked road (as far as motor vehicles can get) and just before the narrower path begins are potholes that are 40cm deep and at least 2ft across. Please see attached photographs. It would be great if they could be fixed so that they no longer provide a bad surface for CYCLISTS.

Water flooding driveway from road, 24th September
In heavy rain, water floods north from Airthrey Road into the covered driveway between 14 & 16 Airthrey Road. There is a concrete gulley in pavement but at this low point, no drain to take it away. This water is damaging the wall round the garden of 14 Airthrey Road. It is also damaging the house walls of 14 and 16 Airthrey Road and the tarmac driveway.

Bridge of Allan bike racks outside the Pharmacy, 9th September
The Bridge of Allan bike racks outside the Pharmacy on Henderson Street have been installed in such a way that there is no room for the front wheel of a bicycle. Instead of leaving a gap of one metre between the cycle racks and the raised concrete edging the Council workers have left no gap at all. Since August 2021 I have reported this on no less than seven occasions. I would like to remind Stirling Council that at the January 2021 Council meeting they told the Bridge of Allan Councillors that they would maintain all cycle racks funded by the Scottish Government's Spaces for People Funding,. I am now concerned because this repeated lack of action could be interpreted as a cynical lack of regard for Council's Active Travel policies. Lots of cyclists cycle through Bridge of Allan. The Council needs to ensure that there is usable cycle parking for them. Move the cycle racks one metre away from the concrete platform.
