Loose manhole Cover, 16th September

Thu, 16 Sep 2021 12:35:42 +0100
50.75058 -3.406453

This and many others in this section of the road have been causing a nuisance noise (clattering) for many months. Cranbrook Town Clerk has made numerous excuses for not having this fixed. She says that two town Councillors have driven down this area and do not agree that there is a problem.

Parking on Hellings Gardens EX5 3DX, 2nd March

Mon, 02 Mar 2020 16:13:22 +0000
50.765519 -3.440733

Parking relating to school finishing times has been a problem for years. The cul de sac Hellings Gardens is narrow and cars park the whole way down causing frustration for residents. We cannot take deliveries as vans cannot get through, emergency services cannot get through and yesterday our bins were not emptied by the council because they could not get through. In addition, residents are unable to get out of their drives.

Water coming through the tarmac, 19th June

Tue, 19 Jun 2018 09:58:56 +0100
50.776706 -3.404349

It’s been dry for weeks yet the road is wet at this crossroads and running down to the drain. If you stand on it, bubbles rise up through the tarmac. At a guess, there is a water mains leak under the road surface which could lead to far worse problems later and should probably be dealt with by SW water.

Massive water filled pothole, 29th January

Mon, 29 Jan 2018 09:28:46 +0000
50.771475 -3.386094

A deep 4-5” pothole with sheer sides has opened up quite suddenly on this bend. It’s impossible to know it’s there in the dark and difficult to avoid as you go around the corner. It also has sheer sides so very hard on wheels. It’s obviously a complete liability for cyclists. As an aside, if you happen to have any hardcore lying around looking for a home, the passing place at the same location could really do with some.

Culvert still collapsed and getting worse..., 24th April

Mon, 24 Apr 2017 10:58:01 +0100
50.781097 -3.396378

Not so much a pothole as a chasm now. Photos don't do this justice- it only appears to be 2.5 inches/6cm deep but due to the humos either side of it it's actually a complete car wrecker. Was marked up 18 months ago but paint long gone. Please can it be fixed before a two wheeler has a nasty accident?

Road falling away, 4th February

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 16:18:05 +0000
50.777011 -3.403564

This is a deliberately-created cutting in the bank for road surface water- the water running over the tarmac into the cutting has eroded it to the extent that you could get a wheel stuck in the gully. Will try to get photo later.

Side of the road has fallen away, 4th February

Thu, 04 Feb 2016 16:15:21 +0000
50.775509 -3.40678

There is an area beside the road, where the verge/bank meets the concrete rainwater gully, where the mud of the bank has been eroded by floodwater so much that there is now a 30cm+ deep hole just beyond the concrete gully. I found this out by grounding my ford galaxy(ie quite a high vehicle) on the concrete while the wheel spun in a void. The area just looks like a puddle but it is in fact welly deep. Thankfully my neighbour came to tow me out of that fix! If you have any spare rubble though, it could do with a digger bucket-load.

Fly tipped household waste, 24th April

Tue, 24 Apr 2012 09:53:29 +0100
50.7815563491 -3.3954530230557

Some person unknown has been dumping household waste in my neighbours' industrial waste bin that they hire for disposing of feed sacks. A few weeks ago they were fined seven pounds because some thoughtless oik had placed their household rubbish in this bin. Last week some more bags of rubbish were dumped at the base of the bin, which our neighbours moved so that that they would not be fined again. The household waste contractors did not remove these bags on their usual round on Friday, resulting in the bags being broken into by wild animals and the contents, mostly smelly decomposing food waste, spread all over the crossroads. Our neighbour tidied it up once. I am about to go out and pick it all up again with rubber gloves and place it in a metal rubbish bin that I have. The question is, how is any of us supposed to deal with random fly-tipping of such disgusting waste? Many of have 4 children and only just manage to keep to the standard wheely bin size- adding this waste to our own bins will mean that we cannot then dispose of our own waste. Could specialist contractors please come and take the waste and work out who is doing the dumping? Please! Our crossroads looks a total mess. The waste will be in a metal rubbish bin on the crossroads. As a parish councillor I intend to raise this issue at our next meeting and seek clarification from EDDC on what exactly we are supposed to do in cases like this of blatant repeated fly-tipping. It is frankly a health hazard.

Rubbish of various sorts has been dumped in this stretch of the lane. There are several white plastic sacks of builder's rubbish (at least one containing tiles that might be asbestos), an old computer printer and a black plastic sack of general litter collected from the ditches. Please note there are two locations about 50m apart on either side of the lane.
