Loose manhole cover on A30/A303 on west carriageway, 24th June
Following roadworks w/b 17.5.21, this manhole is still loose and crashes very loudly each time a vehicle passes over it. This occurs through the day and the night. I reported this to you on 22.5.21 and you replied on 3.6.21 saying it was not your manhole but Vodafone. You have reported this to Vodafone. I did not hear from them so contacted them (18.6.21) and they are looking into it. On 19.6.21 I noticed a sign on the roadside(west) warning of bumps in the road. Did Highways England erect this warning sign? What powers do Highways England have to get some action? It is good that there is a warning but it seems to have no affect on the movement of the manhole or the loudness of the noise. Surely something can be done. It is now more than a month since I first reported this. Has an Inspector actually visited the site? We should very much appreciate an update on the situation and planned action as soon as possible please. Mr and Mrs Hawkins Stoneburrow Cottage EX14 9PY

Loose and rocking manhole cover, 1st June
The triangular segments are being rocked by vehicles (and my motorbike) travelling over them. There is substantial movement of the segments. The movement is also easily audible in nearby Rawridge. It is a very narrow sectoin of road with steep sides and an incident there would be very troublesome.
