Potholes everywhere, especially where the road goes to 3 lanes before the Durham turnoff. They are near the hard shoulder and other lanes. They make your car jolt. Going south from bowburn to the bishop auckland turn off, the inside lane has creaters near the hard shoulder. These have been here for ages. It's really bad!

Flytipping, 20th January
I have reported this site twice, and asked for updates and yet nothing has been acknowledge or received. It is Highways England land, fenced off for the A1. I have taken various videos for evidence and also lack of action. I have asked for emails and received nothing either.

Flytipping and dumping of waste, 6th March
Hi, the A1 embankment goes up to this small farm track access (///steep.rocks.scenes on What3words) and over the fence various tyres, concrete blocks and household waste has been dumped. I am assuming as it is over the fence it is now on your land. I have reported it before. Thanks

Grass cutting and litter, 26th May
Hi I am confused on who has the logic to cut the grass, months after a litter pick meaning the verges are packed with litter and you are simply making a problem 100 times worse. It is now being shredded into thousands of tiny bits, blowing into nearby hedges and the road and meaning that you have a much worse job clearing it up. THere are patches of cut grass all along here appearing and it looks awful, plus the micro particles are worse. Please stop until you litter pick! To be honest - not even sure why you are cutting it, it is largely unnecessary!

Large pot holes opening across road surface, 18th May
The road goes to three lanes north bound here and in the middle lane just as it goes to three lanes (for a crawler lane) there are 4-5 large stretches of road surface coming off which is causing people to side swerve into other lanes to avoid it.

On the embankment - fly tipping tyres and oil canisters on highways land, 18th May
There is a very large embankment here and at the top of it adjacent the lane you can see on the map there is a large amount of flytipping, however we can not get near it to clear it because of the high fence. It is accessible from the small road off Shincliffe Lane, on the A1 side of the fence.

Footpah, 17th October
The footpath running from the South of Sherburn via the A181 all the way to Byers Garth is in very poor condition. The footpath is severely neglected with numerous places being so overgrown with vegetation and earth, the path is barely visible at all. Only the concrete edgings of the footpath are visible through grass/mud. Due to hedge and verge overgrowth, preventing physical use of the actual footpath, pedestrians are using the grass verge and road to walk on instead of the actual 'footpath'.

Pothole filled with embedded screws that are coming looseR, 27th August
Small pothole just outside drive of no 15 that is filled with many screws embedded in the Tarmac that are progressively coming loose - a cause of flat tyres. This happened previously and was reported and the Highways team kindly filled it in but unfortunately the pothole has opened up again and the screws are coming out again. I assume that a container must have been spilt when the road was being surfaced.
