Unkept/Derelict Land, 28th October

The land between the Bayhouse Restaurant (now closed down) and the next house along on Cairnryan Road (Lebona) has been left to grown wild and spoil the look of the street and neigbouring properties. The council appear to be very strict about what can and cannot be done to properties on this street and yet this piece of land has been allowed to sit and rot purely because the owner no longer wants to build on it. Surely this eyesore should be maintained to an acceptable standard by the owner. The Bayhouse Restaurant next door to this land (which was once one parcel of land) has been for sale for a very long time. Does it not stand to reason that having this eyesore next to it is adding to the difficulty of selling this property. Not to mention the fact that the other neighboring house values will have fallen as a result. Who wants to live next to a dump. This street is the first impression that visitors have of Stranraer. It's always been highly controlled by the council. Why should the owner not be held responsible for maintaining it to a better standard. The council is letting down residents who pay their taxes on homes/land and have to live with this eyesore on their doorsteps.
