Manhole cover very noisy when driven over, 22nd September
A350, Bournemouth Road going north in the village of Charlton Marshall opposite the junction the Pava Close. The road seating the manhole is breaking up and the cover bounces each time a vehicle drives over, creating a very loud clatter/bang. The A350 is a very busy road and an artery for HGV’s travelling North resulting in the noise being constant from very early in the morning to late at night. The noise has steadily increased over resent months and has reached unacceptable levels over the last month as the damage has increased due to the constant heavy traffic.

Building site surface material being deposited on road, 3rd November
This Bellway building site has been in use for some months and the initial stages of building in excess of 300 houses has commenced. During this time no effective attempt has been made to avoid mud being transferred from the site and particularly from the site entrance on to the A350 road and adjacent footpath. The road, but not the footpath, is regularly mechanically swept which sprays water onto the mud which is then spread by traffic far beyond the reach of the cleaning machine. The recent heavy rain and previous wet spells has seen water flowing from the site, causing the road to flood across both carriageways, mixing with the mud, then covering passing vehicles. I have seen no evidence of a hardcore base being laid arround the entrance to prevent mud being carried away nor activity to correct the loss of ground absorbtion from the former agriculture land.

Draincovers sinking, 18th August
Two draincovers are situated in the layby approaching the entranceway to 310, 312 1nd 314 Bournemouth Road. The carriageway is narrowed by the central hatching which occupies approximately a meter in width. As a result heavy goods vehicles are frequently forced close to the kerbside and hitting one or both draincovers, which are now below the road surface causing a loud unnecerssary and irritating noise.

The snow on the road has become icy and unless in a 4x4 it is becoming impassable. I already have one person in my house who cannot get to Blandford and her step father has set out walking to meet her. It is a very worrying situation. What is Highways doing to help? "Clunking" manhole cover, 8th September
We have been at the address for about 8 years. In that time this cover has broken and been repaired about 4 or 5 times (all due to the large, heavy traffic on the road). Now, despite no obvious, visual damage it has in recent months started "clunking" when vehicles pass over it. This is really only evident from inside our house. The noise if extremely annoying at times, and sounds like someone banging on the wall with a rubber mallet. There is no respite from it, and due to the heavy volume of traffic on the road, all day and most of the night, it is impossible to escape it. I would really like someone from BT to come to my house and try to find a solution.

Route 253 into Tarrant Keyneston, 4th June
This national network cycle route is now no longer possible to cycle on, on a road bike due to the terrible gravel which has been laid all across it. Sharp, loose and often large gravel split the sidewall of a brand new £35 tyre and damaged the underside of my carbon frame. Do not attempt to cycle it if you dont want to damage your bike or get a puncture. I have also reported the problem to Sustrans.
