Request for Doncaster Council to adopt 20mph on all residential streets as reported on Look North BBC, 26th April

Thu, 26 Apr 2018 19:14:06 +0100
53.498583 -1.078951

Recent evidence as presented by BBC on the evening of 26/04/18 (Look North) which suggests that 'Good practice' is for local Councils to adopt a 20mph speed limit on all residential streets. Several Towns and Cities have already actioned this with evidence from the World Health Organisation that a Council can make a saving of on average 1 million pounds per annum, taking into account changes in street signage and road markings...... Not least the benefit to individuals and families in local communities. Other benefits include, .safer, more pleasant places for people to live (especially for our children and elderly residents) .reduced likelyhood of accidents .if you are involved in a collision or hit by a car at 20mph you are far less likely to be seriously injured than if hit by a car travelling at 30mph .people are more likely to cycle and walk The argument that a lower speed limit would be ignored is redundant, as all speeds have the potential to be ignored by the few and dealt with as other speed limits are. I understand that according to the Sheffield.gov. website that ..... 'The work will be funded by transport project funding provided by the Government. There will be no traffic calming measures such as road humps, as we don't have funding for these.'......I do not support the notion or need for traffic calming in this request for your consideration. Already more than half of the largest 40 urban authorities in the UK have a policy of setting 20mph as the default for all their streets. I would ask that Doncaster joins the other 40 Councils as a leading progressive Council and maybe project a positive view of Doncaster to the rest of the U.K. I look forwards to your response Kind regards

8 to 12 potholes of various size, 17th March

Sat, 17 Mar 2018 12:30:34 +0000
53.498209 -1.079088

Potholes from 15cm to 50cm of various depth and deterioration of poor quality infil repair a few months ago. Existed for several months this year and made worse by snow which makes the already dangerous corner where, most cars speed, more hazardous. History of 8 accidents with cars ending up in people's gardens and damaging other vehicles over last 15 years. Avoiding current potholes likely to exacerbate situation. Rather than infil repairs, needs strip repair over bigger area as actioned on adjacent roads Kind regards
