I live in Sutton cum Lound and would like to raise an objection to the continued pointless grass cutting regime that is carried out in the village.
We are in a climate and biodiversity emergency and this repeated mowing for the sake of it is neither helping wildlife nor reducing the council's greenhouse gas emissions.
Instead the money would be far better spent on collecting the horrendous amount of litter in the verges on Sutton Lane. Mowing should be reduced to on amenity public areas.

Water and Soil causing flooding after rainfall as no drains, 5th August
After rainfall, soil and water running off adjacent fields mainly through new housing development all ends up at this blind corner. There is no drainage for the water to escape so localised flooding occurs and any traffic approaching the bend will not see it until its too late. The issue has been there for months now and no doubt will continue until an accident occurs and the highways take the problem seriously.

Wasp nest inside post of street light, 26th July
There is a wasps nest inside the lamp post outside no 7 The Paddocks, Lound, Retford DN22 8RR. Wasps can be seen entering and exiting the access cover at the foot of the lamp standard indicating the presence of a nest. One person has already been stung despite no provocation. The wasps have been observed for about a week.

Overgrown tree/hedges causing limited visibility, 2nd July
The trees and hedges on the corner of The Paddocks, Lound are so overgrown the road signs are not visible. Visibility is limited enough at this junction, these overgrown hedges make exiting the cul de sac even more dangerous.

Weekly bin collection, 30th December
We have had no proper blue or green bin collection service for approximately one month now, and excess refuse bags are building up and presenting a risk to public health, as well as looking extremely unsightly.
This needs urgently rectifying please, with both bins emptying (and all excess bags) as soon as possible.
No doubt the snow caused problems initially, but the time taken to restore service is unacceptable, particularly as the scheduled fortnightly collections are already barely sufficient for our family of 5.

Request for traffic mirror , 21st September
The exit from The Paddocks onto Town Street is very hazardous due to the difficulty in seeing traffic approaching from either left or right resulting in several near misses. We have made an approach, via the parish council, to have a mirror mounted across from the end of The Paddocks but the request has been denied. A mirror might alleviate the problem and avoid a serious accident just waiting to happen. We have also enquired about paying for a mirror but have been told that it cannot be sited on a public verge.
