Tree Preservation Order application, 31st December
Trees play a vital role in safeguarding the climate and wildlife. Besides their value to the natural world, there are countless other ways in which trees improve the wellbeing of people and the planet.
Trees are under constant threat from the pressures of development, and especially in our village (Breedon on the Hill) at present, with so many more homes being built in the village and losing more and more green space.
I’d like to request a Tree Preservation Order for the trees that line the Brook, where I’ve located on the map. I can’t stress enough on the tree's visual amenity value to the local people and wildlife. The wildlife regularly uses these trees as a corridor through the village. But I’ve also documented various birds from, Blackbirds, Chaffinch’s, Goldfinch’s, various Tits, Dunnock, Wrens, Great spotted woodpecker and the most exciting was a King Fisher. These are just a few species of birds these trees attract overhanging the brook. It would be devastating to lose such an abundance of wildlife. I feel very privileged and lucky to see all this on my doorstep. Would be so sad to see them go.

Radar controlled 40mph illuminated sign rarely working., 11th December
This is sited at the top of a dangerous downhill bend in 40mph zone and is rarely, if ever, working. I have seen it working possibly three times in the last 5 years!! It ought to be working full time to discourage speeding down into the Woodhouses dip. I have frequently been overtaken by speeding motorists on this stretch of road. How about siting a police speed camera van at this point for a few hours over several days as a deterrent. I do a litter pick down this stretch of road a couple of times a year and frequently pick up discarded car parts (wing mirrors, hub caps etc.) in the verges - obviously from 'accidents'. The speed of cars down this road is sometimes terrifying whilst picking litter!
