FIXMYSTREET IN DL14 0JF
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of DL14 0JF:
Bad Bad Parking, 5th September
Hi
I live near to Toft Hill, Durham. In my Cul de Sac the photographed cars are parked on the street causing issues for people trying to get to their properties. I have nearly ploughed into the back of these mentioned vehicles and have noticed a fair few slamming on brakes due to Bad Parking.
What worries me the most is that Fire Engines * Ambulances can not get into the street for any type of emergencies. I have a fake leg (lost it in a bike accident in 2006) and my neighbours are over 60. Bearing in mind I have had to call the Ambulance a few times due to bad health. And so has my aging neighbour to my right. She is in very bad health.
People seem to not think about these things. If my house caught fire at 3am - they would not be able to get to my house due to this mentioned problem.
There are also others who park in the Cul de Sac and block other parts of the thin road. So they may pass one area but then run into problems at another part of the street.
Please can you help? I have contacted my local MP and am awaiting a reply.
Thanks for your time.

Footpath 5 St Cuthberts Avenue, 21st August
This is in support of a report I have already sent on line with a reference number of FS Case 22770318. I reported the poor condition of the footpath directly outside my address 5 St Cuthberts Avenue. I am now reporting it again as the condition has deteriorated even further and has been mentioned as a concern by number of neighbors in passing. After the last time I had reported this issue somebody from the Council did actually come out and carried out quite possibly the most shoddiest work I have ever witnessed. Instead of cutting out an area with straight sides as footpath patching has always been done all he did was shovel some sort of cold tarmac onto the area and proceeded to fkattten it with the face of his shovel. Amazed at what had just witnessed I challenged him to which I was given a reply if 'well it's all I have git'. I did not report it at the time as I was assured that an inspector would follow up the fine by inspecting it as part of the timeline checks that are carried out. Well it's now been a year and nothing has been done. Has an inspector been out? I very much doubt it and if they have then I would like to know what they were looking at?. All I ask is that as a resident and somebody who has paid their taxes (in full) that this be rectified properly and at the earliest opportunity as it should have been done in the first place.

Damaged pavement surface, 4th August
This problem was reported earlier this year resulting in a council employee stating that it would be monitored regularly or words to that effect. The damage has worsened and now almost resembles a child's play sand pit. There have been instances whereby pedestrians have slipped on the loose surface however up until now have not sustained any real injuries, however with Autumn and Winter fast approaching IMO I feel it is only a matter of time until somebody does real damage to themselves.

Childrens Swing, 3rd August
The vertical wooden leg of childrens swing in the recreation ground has split where the north side leg is bolted to the steel crossbar. This is only noticable when the swing is under load (i.e someone is sat in it) but you can see the split open and close as the swing moves too and fro. It is visible looking west from the east side of the swing.

Road very slippery at junction, 12th May
When the road is wet, it is almost impossible to turn right from Toft Hill on the A68 towards West Auckland at even a moderate pace without wheelspin. The camber is bad for turning right, and the road surface has worn smooth. The result is that you can't accelerate as quickly as you expect, and so a gap in the traffic that would normally give you enough time to pull out and accelerate becomes inadequate as you crawl slowly across the road and struggle to pick up speed. The same applies to turning right onto the A68 from Greenfields Road about 300m to the south. Could this stretch of the A68 be surface dressed, or a high-friction coating applied at these junctions?
