Having reported this problem to the relevant department of Durham County Council on a number of occasions over the last 5 years I am trying all possible approaches in an attempt to get something done. Basically my 87 year old mum lives next door to a house that following the death of the owner has been left to fall into ruin. As it is a terrace this impacts upon primarily the adjacent homes but also influences the sale/rental value of all. There have sightings of vermin coming and going into the property with the subsequent worries this creates. The address is 29 Esperley Lane, Cockfield, Bishop Auckland, County Durham, DL13 5AN and I understand there are problems with ownership as the previous owner died intestate and there are rumours that everything is still in probate. Land registry indicates that a Lloyds TSB were awarded a charging order in November 2005 prior to the owners death. I have written to the bank to see if they could do anything to help in view of the fact that there was some interest in purchasing the property. The response was to seek my own legal advice which my mum is not in a position to do. I would be grateful for some help with this matter. Mrs Janet Little
