Recently there has been a lot of dog fouling on Harmire Enterprise Park, especially near Castle Vets and along the road to Percy Beck Bridge. It is obviously from large dogs and happens late evening. There is someone who has two large doberman dogs who has been seen to allow the dogs to foul and not pick up

Dog Fouling in Barnard Castle, 12th November

Mon, 12 Nov 2012 22:51:50 +0000
54.550073753667 -1.9123130981897

I am a house owner in Thorngate Place and walk to Barnard castle Sports Centre most days and am getting very annoyed at the amount of dog fouling that is occurring on the footpaths through the demesnes, Queens Street, Victoria Road and then the footpath next to the school marked on the map, it goes between the main road just opposite the petrol station and Barnard Castle Sports Centre. There is persistent dog fouling on a daily basis making it very difficult for anyone to walk that path avoiding the piles of dog mess. What are you doing to address this issue? Taking the dogs away from the owners responsible and banning them from dog ownership would be my solution.

As you exit Harmire Road Business Park, it's difficult to see North, towards the Golf Club, as the bushes on the corner have grown out towards the road and obstruct the view. Following my success with the A66 turnarounds, I'll try reporting this and see how long it takes to fix!

Muddy, dangerous Road conditions., 8th March

Workmen left the road where Wilson Street meets Crook Lane in a shocking condition on Saturday. Thick Mud coated the road surface leaving it not only disgusting, but dangerous as it was incredibly slippy. I can't believe that the planning conditions for the Playground development would allow the road to be left is such a terrible state. Mud was so thick that it reamins on the road today (Monday 8 March).

Snow Clearing, 2nd January

Sat, 02 Jan 2010 18:08:08 +0000
54.542788307214 -1.92695664149098

Although the Council did come out and put some grit on after the first snowfall there have been several heavy falls since any grit was applied to the footpaths. They didn't grit the County Bridge the first time either and irt was treacherous. The CAstle footpath, a much used short cut into town wasn't gritted at all. This after the Council got £1m from the PCT for extra gritting. The whole of Barnard Castle is dreadful and it's even worse in the Teesdale villages where the footpaths are unusable and residents have to walk in the road putting them at risk of severe injury.

Obstruction to Highway, 22nd May

Fri, 22 May 2009 19:52:19 +0100
54.5423743537326 -1.93147232007988

Road Traffic Act Section 22a. The occupiers of the house on the corner of Low Startforth and the Bowes Road regularly park their vehicles partly on the pavement and partly on the road. In order to overtake the parked vehicles a road user has to cross over onto the Eastbound side of this single carriageway road. The obstruction is also within 15 metres of the junction and causes a hazard to vehicles exiting Low Startforth Road in either direction through reduced visibility. The 2 vehicles both bear Republic of Ireland registration plates and have been there for over a year. I have been required to stop in order to allw traffic coming down the hill to pass safely as there is insufficient room on the Westbound lane. Agricultural vehicles drawing trailers and LGVs experience greater difficulties as they then have to start off on a rising gradient meaning that progress is slowed.

Large items of traffic, 2nd August

Thu, 02 Aug 2007 18:12:34 +0100
54.5412964775258 -1.93269115840442

This area of Corn Close i know has recently had work done on it. If it was carried out to stop the ground being ripped up by traffic using the verge to navigate through the throng of parked cars in the area, you have succeeded. However large vehicles are still using the route and are still showing a disregard for kerbs and verges. Perhaps it would be easier to provide a solution to the parking problem and stop people double parking, road markings, speed limit indicators may help.

I want to point out that this is an area that children use regularly to get to and from the park and their homes. There are also a few slow moving pedestrians living in the vicinity.I think it may be shrewd to look at the idea of speed bumps to discourage drivers from driving too fast.
