Dangers for pedestrians – near railway bridge, Bedworth Road (A444) CNN/25, 16th April
A number of safety issues at this location:
1. It appears as if roadside equipment which says, 'DANGER 240 volts' has recently been damaged by a vehicle. The inside components are now exposed. The broken metal cover is also jutting out at an angle which could cause an accident if someone was to trip, had to move quickly out of the way or were accidentally pushed onto it.
2. The footpath under the bridge (west side) is extremely narrow, in a very poor condition and there are no barriers here to separate pedestrians from the traffic. If someone was to trip on the pavement here, it is likely that they would fall into the road.
3. There are no pedestrian crossings even though there are workplaces and bus stops located here. Within Coventry, the nearest pelican crossing is at Longford Square and the nearest refuge island appears to be at Oban Road. Within Bedworth, the nearest pelican crossing appears to be the other side of Black Horse Road and no refuge islands before this.
Considering that this road is heavily used by buses, vans and HGVs and that the bridge obscures views, it is hard to understand why the provision for keeping pedestrians and cyclists safe at this location is so poor.

The Longford Park welcome sign by the Oakmoor Road entrance is covered in graffiti. Some of the bins have graffiti on them too.
