The mud on the road was so thick I came off the road unknowingly causing my front wheel to go into a very deep rutt, cause by the farm machinary during the wet weather. This caused a blowout on my front left tyer. However this could have caused an accident. The erosion of the verg is the problem as there is no curb. There is also a very deep ditch which I could of ended up in.

Gravel on bend, 17th September

Mon, 17 Sep 2012 13:10:17 +0100
53.254988338168 -3.0149477162316

Gravel is being deposited on the road from the private driveway that joins this part of the road. There are significant deposits of gravel and stones making this corner very hazardous. To make matters worse, this is not only on a corner, it is also in a dip, the gravel is right in the centre of the dip and corner, so any vehicle/bicycle/motorcycle going over it will likely have built up some speed. I know for sure of one serious injury here, a cyclist broke his neck when he slipped on gravel at this point in the last 2 years. The road has since been resurfaced, but it's now clear that the gravel isn't being built up from the road itself, but being put there by vehicles exiting the nearby private driveway.
