M53 Southbound - Excessive Standing Water, 5th August

Sat, 05 Aug 2023 11:01:55 +0100
53.245422 -2.867748

Water builds in this location heading southbound on the M53 when it rains, this is excessive compared to other parts of the carriageway and I have seen many near misses. This is just before the slip road from the M56 joins the M53 heading towards Chester. The water is likely to cause aquaplaning, harsh braking and obscured vision and splashes on to the northbound carriageway also. Drainage must be blocked or lacking to cause this as it stands out in this place compared to the rest of the carriageway in the rain and happens every time there is any prolonged period of rain.

M53 underpass off Thornton Way, 20th June

Tue, 20 Jun 2023 17:21:50 +0100
53.270769 -2.877903

Hi there we are a community interest company in Ellesmere Port who have been cleaning up the area surrounding the subway. So far we have pulled out over 100 bags of rubbish and fly tipping out of the area. Lots of people use this underpass to get to work and cannot at the moment as it is flooded. This needs addressing asap please. I'm hearing this has been reported before but no response. We would be extremely grateful if you could come out and unblock the gutters so we can carry on your community work in the area and people can get to work and get to the supermarket. This is very important ??
