Overgrown trees blocking windows and growing under roof tiles, 3rd August
The trees in Red Bank Terrace are completely overgrown and now causing problems with them growing under roof tiles and into peoples windows so they can’t open them and also blocking cars from parking outside properties. Cumberland Council don’t respond to emails, phone calls or general enquiries. The local MP has asked them for maintenance programme but this still has not been provided. The trees should be pollarded at least every two or three years but really should be annually as they are very invasive. The streets outside are cobbled and the greenfly sap also causes the roads and pavements to become very slippery and dangerous for residents and we’re all simply fed up of nothing been done or even responded to. I’ve previously logged this problem with you before and the Council did contact me to acknowledge this have since done nothing to alleviate these problematic trees which serve absolutely no benefits to any of us and are far to close to the houses so they need regular maintenance which is not currently provided.

Tree Branches growing above roof gutters, 12th February
The trees are usually pollarded by council every 3 years (which doesn’t happen) to avoid growing above the roof guttering which causes lots of problems with the gutters overflowing with debris and branches breaking off and landing on parked cars below. Everyone in the street agrees that the trees should be cut back at the knuckle of the branches to stop any growth which the council have done in many other streets in the city and therefore would never have to cut them back again and at least the trees remain. Currently several residents have reported the issue but the council although allocate job ref numbers don’t seem to follow up with the work required to alleviate the problems associated with these types of trees
