The gullie in question has sunk to a depth of 150mm to 200mm causing a hazard to traffic ie if you hit it it will cause damage to your vehicle , this will be worse in the dark because you won’t be able to see it.

Noticed that there was a deep hole on the side of the road as I was just driving past. There is a bad bend between calderbridge and the Beckermet turnoff on the A595. There is a house on that corner and the damage is before the house

Significant Water Hazard - A595 North of Blackbeck Roundabout / Yeorton Brow, 3rd January
At the top of the hill by Blackbeck roundabout (heading towards Whitehaven), on the newly resurfaced bit of road, the standing water is an absolute death trap on both sides of the carriageway! Honestly, it's so bad it's only a matter of time before there is a serious accident. The water was over 2" deep at some points, resulting in substantial aquaplaning for my medium-sized car. I think a motorcyclist would have come off if they encountered it at 40mph, and a heavy vehicle (esp. artic) would also be additionally vulnerable - struggling with control. Drainage (and camber to drainage) requires a comprehensive survey, review and remedial work to recover minimum safety requirements for the highway.

Request repositioning of 30mph signs, 30th December
The 30mph signs upon entering Calderbridge when travelling south are positioned beyond the brow of the hill. This is causing excessive breaking, especially for HGV's when the traffic lights are on red. There is a short breaking distance between the 30mph signs and the traffic lights.
If the 30mph signs were positioned prior to the brow of the hill, this would allow for vehicle speed to already be reduced upon the approach to the traffic lights and would reduce incidents, near misses and excessive breaking.

Regular flooding on A595, 12th December
Several times over the past few years this stretch of A549 keeps flooding. Often there are puddles quarter of the way into the road due to no drainage in the bottom of the dip, when it rains heavy the full road floods, the drains have been cleaned several times, most of the time the engineers who respond say they cant do anything. The current drains cant cope with the amount of water and need improved.

On one occasion I was hit by a wing mirror and I've had a few close contacts. Is it possible to either move the 30MPH zone to the top of the hill before the path narrows or widen the path?

Round about or through road?, 12th December
On a daily basis I witness near misses on this roundabout, No road marking explaining which lane to use. This is commonly brought u on Facebook and everyone has their own opinion how to use it.. Please can you confirm if this is classed as a roundabout and which lanes should be used when following the A595 in both directions. Please can some clear markings also be added to the road?

Standing traffic near miss, 12th December
On a few occasions I've witness near misses due to standing traffic on the brow of the hill heading towards Calder Bridge. Is it possible to either improve signage or reduce the speed limit to 40mph.

Brambles and long grass obstructing view, 12th December
When exiting nursey road onto the A595 the brambles and long grass are obstructing the view of oncoming traffic, its almost impossible to spot a motorcyclist and I've witnessed a near miss this week. Years ago these were always cut back to the fence line, I assume the fence line is so far back from the road for this reason.

Traffic lights not working correctly. Reported to cumberland coucil first., 20th November
Lights at calderbridge are set wrong. Apart from the usual turning to red for no reason what so ever which most people now ignore and drive through regardless currently they turn to red and are stuck in red for 1 and a half mins with nothing coming out of sellafield. It's causing long delays and huge lines of traffic on the roads. These lights have been a problem for many years. There is no need what so ever for these lights to change to red unless traffic is coming out of the sellafield road but randomly these lights just change to red when nothing is coming out of sellafield. That causes traffic problems either way as traffic jams occur, il openly admit that like most locals now if this is pre sellafield turn out time and after 7pm at night most people ignor the red light and drive through as its just a fantom red light that's on for no fathomable reason. You may have sorted this weekends problem. The lights were changing to red and staying on red for nearly 2 mins.

Severely over grown grass arra, 16th November
Hello I am a resident of Calderbridge and reporting the over grown path way on the A595. The problem area is on a sharp narrow bend and because I use a buggy the path is very narrow that I am having to use part of the wheels on the road. I am unable to use the double buggy on this area. I have been in touch with the council who have advised that this is your responsibility to maintain.

Malfunctioning traffic lights, 18th October
As I reported twice last week (reference 2631), the traffic lights for which you are responsible in Calderbridge have taken to stopping traffic on the A595 for long periods when there is no traffic wanting to join the road from North Drive (Sellafield). This is resulting in long tailbacks in both directions, obstructing access to and from residents’ properties, excessive and persistent noise and great difficulty for pedestrians wishing to cross the road. MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL IT IS LEADING TO MOTORISTS LOSING CONFIDENCE IN THE LIGHTS AND THEN TO IGNORE THE RED LIGHT. THIS IS LEADING TO REGULAR NEAR MISSES WHEN VEHICLES EMERGE FROM NORTH DRIVE, PERFECTLY CORRECTLY BUT OFTEN AT EXCESSIVE SPEED. AS WE REPORTED LAST WEEK IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THERE IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I WOULD HAVE NO HESITATION IN DRAWING ATTENTION TO MY EARLIER REPORTS WHICH SEEM TO HAVE BEEN IGNORED. I notice that there is no record of them on the list of reports for this area on your website. I would be very grateful if you could initiate a meaningful response and would be happy, as already indicated, to talk to anyone who might wish to understand the problem better. We have lived within yards of the lights for some 12 years and they are categorically not operating to their usual pattern. Please do not ask me to check whether the local authority is responsible. You have already done that; I have asked them; they are categorically not responsible; you are. Yours in hope of a more effective response,
