The road surface around Riddlesay Farm is in a very poor condition. The surface is now becoming increasingly broken with potholes and damaged surface. This is particularly hazardous to cyclists and motorcyclists and risks serious injury in either trying to avoid them on a bend before the brow of the hill or trying to ride through them and falling off. Either of these creates a significant risk of serious injury to the rider.

Unfinished work, 24th February
Looks like they've made good around the road drains. But the work remains unfinished. It's only about an inch or so deep but the edges are sharp. I wouldn't say this was essential, although people are seeing them late and swerving to avoid. A bit tight if there's oncoming traffic at times

Blocked gulleys, 14th July
There are a number of blocked Gulley's on the main road. Looking into them it is clear they have not been sucked out for a long time. I would have thought that with all the flooding in Cumbria in the recent past, that these would be clear. Do we never learn?

Series of large potholes with top surface missing to depth of 4 inches average on most potholes, 29th June
This is a series of potholes (30+ in number)that have been growing in size and depth for several months to the point where damage to vehicles and bicycles tyres is often mentioned by residents and local users. Potholes are present along the whole length of Faraday road from junction with Christian Head to junction with Westgarth Avenue and cannot be avoided when driving or cycling along the road, very nearly came off bicycle today as nowhere to go except hit deep pothole when car overtook me. Has become a serious danger to all road users including pedestrians crossing the road from public car park at Christian Head and parking at Auction Mart. Potholes are mostly 1ft to 3 ft diameter and 2 - 6 inches depth though there are several deeper/shallower and larger/smaller adjoining them.

Dog excrement EVERYWHERE, 9th February
09-02-13 Dog fouling - Outside my front door (Stoneshot); it's on the path, in my patio area, outside my garage - right next to my car.
Literally, EVERY TIME I leave the flat, e.g. to go shopping, or to my vehicle, I get dog excrement on my shoes. Dog fouling is a daily, no, excuse me, an HOURLY occurrence.
The lack of street lighting compounds the issue, of course. Any foot journey at night is GUARANTEED to be hazardous.
A DISGUSTING HEALTH HAZARD...
Roundworms, tapeworms, hookworms, Coccidia, Gardia, Parvovirus - a single gram of dog waste can contain 23 MILLION fecal coliform bacteria.
Also, the number of arrogant, inconsiderate dog owners who happily lead their animals to urinate on my car wheels is incredible... Ammonia damage to my alloys? Criminal damage to property? It CLEARLY is! Vile, vile, vile people...
I understand that some dog owners are diligent in cleaning up after their animal; unfortunately, there are many who are not.
I include a link from the BBC http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-glasgow-west-18598092
A good idea in principle? Probably not - I doubt these dog owners will be "embarrassed" in cleaning up the mess - they clearly have no shame, or sense of civic responsibility. I agree strongly with this quote:
"Councillor McBride added: "Quite frankly anyone who still thinks it is acceptable to leave animal excrement behind on our streets and parks for children to step or fall into probably shouldn't have a dog in the first place."
Well put, Councillor McBride.
Thanks for your time, apologies for the rant.

No through road, 19th September
The road indicated, Fletcher Hill Park, is a no through road but there is no sign indicating this at the entrance of the road. This results in additional traffic entering the road and causing problems. The street is inhabited by younger people at the lower end and older people at the top end. Such a sign would help to alleviate this problem.
