There are a number of large pot holes on this stretch of road. They are unavoidable with larger vehicles due to the width of the road. As the owner of the caravan site accessed via this road it means the road is unsuitable for caravans at the moment which greatly affects our business

Cows with calves threatening walkers on Pennine Way, 4th June
The main Pennine Way long distance footpath goes through a field near Halsteads, north of Coatsike Farm near Dufton. Cows with young calves kept in that field at the beginning of June 2022 have been threatening walkers with their dogs, both hikers and local residents, surrounding them aggressively and unexpectedly (for long-distance hikers).

There are numerous deep potholes along the farm road between Dufton and Murton and they are getting worse all the time. Because of the narrow road, it is difficult to avoid them.
