Water emanating from below road, 27th November
For some time water has been coming up from below the tarmac especially after heavy rain. Now that the temperature has dropped this has become very icy. In addition to this I am concerned that there may be some washout happening below the road surface leading to collapse.

Persistant Flooding, 6th October
Road is currently flooded and this is also a persistent problem.
Road floods on the Northbound side during heavy rain with the standing water hidden from view around the left hand bend. This means that vehicles are often crossing the central dividing line on a blind bend to avoid the water leading to the potential for a head-on collision between N. bound and S. bound traffic.

Unsafe coning off of road next to school, 5th October
This morning one side of the road was coned off adjacent to Paddle School. This was extremely dangerous as visibility was bad to see cars coming thr other direction. I got stuck and forced to reverse by a lorry, other cars behind me were forced to reverse onto the main road - ALL with children in the cars. School informed me that highways had assured them the road would not be coned off during School hours. Why was this section coned off please? There were no workmen there. This incident occurred this morning (05/10/22) at 8.50am. This cannot happen again, it was risking thr lives of children.

Very bad flooding, 21st February
This part of the road always floods very badly when it rains and it does get very deep, it has tried to be fixed recently and hasnt made any difference what so ever to the road. it is a main road and gets used a lot

A5086 Roadside litter build up, 8th February
Hi roadside litter build up on all approach roads around Cockermouth is starting to make the town look depressingly scruffy from the A66, A5086, A595. Not sure what the policy is or if there is one regarding road litter, but a regular response would be welcome. I pick it up where I can, but I rarely see council activity regarding this issue. Surely a litter abatement order isn't needed? Thanks.

Roadside litter build up. Grade C-D, 8th February
Verges haven't been cleared for a long time from Cockermouth roundabout past Paddle School on A5086. I have cleared some personally, but I have never seen anyone else from the council do the same in several months.

Blocked gulley, 23rd December
The grating over the drain is blocked,meaning the water runs further down the road which means vehicles going through the water degrade the already deteriorating road surface.I have already reported this to the highways dept. in Oct 14 but this gulley has been blocked for at least two years. I have cleared the verge away from the drain.

Rubbybanks Lane, 2nd December
Sir,
Today I drove to Cockermouth to visit my friends Mr and Mrs. CP Pollock, of Rubbybaks Hosue CA13 ODT. It was impossible to negotiate the lane as it does not exist. I use a wheelchair, and so was really stuck.
