A66 Closure chaos, 18th September
Last night 17th September I came up the M1 from London to A66 junction heading for Penrith. Signs at Weatherby said the A66 was closed so I followed the diversion via Barnard Castle, only to find that the A66 was not closed. However when I reached Brough all traffic was forced off with little warning down the slip road to Brough. I say forced because it was dangerous. Then there was utter chaos in Brough with drivers not knowing where to go. The Diversion signs pointed to the village, and back onto the east bound A66. I finally worked out a route back vis Kirkby Stephen and the M6. Work out for yourself how much time this took me onto my journey. To use a much overused term these days, and being polite, it was 'a total disgrace'.

Broken and pitted pavement surface is dangerous and unsightly, 2nd June
The pavement and kerbside outside our house has been in poor repair for years. Plants grow through it and the surface becomes broken and then washes away after rain, leaving it pitted and dangerous. The pavement on the other side of Barton View was resurfaced some years ago but the bit outside 15, 17 and 19 Barton View always seems to be overlooked!

Water flowing onto road, 14th January
Water is flowing out of the corner of a field belonging to Penrith Golf Club on to the corner of Green Lane Penrith. The water runs across the road as the drain under the road is blocked with vegetation. In freezing weather this water turns to ice and makes it very dangerous for both vehicles and pedestrians. This area is a very popular walking route. This problem has occurred every winter for the past few years and nothing has been done about it although it has been reported.
