FIXMYSTREET IN BS39 5GF
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of BS39 5GF:
Section of lane, 26th April
Thank you for filling in some potholes on the corner outside our house - I'm not convinced that the tarmac will stay in the holes for long as little preparation was carried out on the potholes before the tar was put in. However why were the other potholes on this section of lane not filled in at the same time? they have been reported frequently over the last year. Now the whole section of lane needs some serious remedial work as it is pitted with huge potholes which could easily result in burst tyres, damage to vehicles or even accidents.

3 blocked drains, 26th April
Thank you for clearing one of our blocked drains (the one on the corner outside our property) hopefully jetted rather than just the plug of mud and grit removed from the entrance as the previous attempt. However there are still at least 3 blocked drains on this short stretch of road and half way up the hill as previously reported. One of them has a drain cover that stands proud so no water can get into it. Why were these not cleared at the same time? would this not make more sense financially? As you will be aware we have been reporting this problem over the past year at least. It is a long standing problem that has not been sorted for many years.

35+ Pot Holes / Lack of Road - Cars Bottoming Out - Impassible, 15th April
There are 35+ potholes / craters / missing road surface in this small stretch of road. The road is now only safely passable with a 4x4 or similar vehicle. Cars bottom out when driving and road is becoming further damaged as a result. Plus cars are also now being damaged. This is extremely unsafe for any user of the road, horses, public, bikes or vehicles. This road breaches H&S regulations with a danger of injury or potentially life.

Blocked drains, 4th April
This is what happens to this lane after only a couple of heavy showers -dangerous for cyclists, motorcyclists and motorists as the huge potholes are hidden as well as the volume of flowing water to navigate. Totally impassable for pedestrians unless wearing wellingtons or waders and impossible for the postman/lady to deliver our post and we cannot use our front gate.
This can be remedied by clearing all the drains and filling the potholes. This is obviously not the first time I have reported this problem as yet with little result.

Blocked drains flooded road, 4th April
The drains have been locked for 3 months. The flood does not clear. You cannot walk, cycle or take a wheelchair along that road. The water is now prone to bacteria and fungi. I know it has already been reported, it would be great to get an update to the community via the Parish Council.

Potholes, mounds of grit, collapsed banks, 28th March
This section of lane is an ongoing problem which we have reported numerous times with limited success. The constant flooding because of several blocked drains has resulted in a lane in total disrepair - huge potholes and large heaps of solid grit washed down the hill, very dangerous for cyclists, motorbikes and car tyres. The banks around the drains are never cleared back nowadays so that even if the drains are working much of the rain water pours down the hill straight past the drains. The banks on either side of the lane are now collapsing sending mud and huge stones onto the highway, another hazard for motorists, cyclists and walkers. The lane down the hill from Hinton Blewett to the corner at the bottom outside our cottage is in total disrepair and needs reconstructive action.

Blocked drains and flooding leading to potholes and deterioration of road surface, 15th March
These blocked drains have been an ongoing problem for years - the traffic cone placed on the drain has now disintegrated. There are at least 3 drains on this bit of road that need jetting not just surface clearing as happened last time the lorry was sent out. The constant excess water has now destroyed the road surface leading to piles of grit on the road and big potholes ie. a much bigger problem than when we originally reported the state of the road. The road is now a dangerous mass of holes, grit and patches. Please deal with this problem asap - I am very happy to meet with an engineer to discuss the problem.

Longstanding flooding of road with static water for 3 months, 13th March
This road has been flooded for 3 months. It is difficult to walk through and hazardous for small cars. There is limited access through the village of Hinton Blewett and so this disrupts access significantly. The water now smells. This is a constant issue now and the 2 drains either side of the road were not cleared properly. The drainage system needs to be dug up and repaired as simply sucking the water out has not solved the problem for two decades now at least.

Landslip from bank into the road, 20th February
During the recent heavy rain a landslip has taken place, causing part of the bank to come away and drop onto the road causing an obstruction which requires people to navigate around it. The debris is in the road.
There is a longer term issue in terms of the stability of the bank. I would ask the council to make contact with the owner in order to shore up the bank
