Overflowing drain, 14th May

Tue, 14 May 2024 09:51:53 +0100
51.453025 -2.598445

This is an ongoing issue for us at the Hippodrome theatre. The drain in Hanover Street has been overflowing for over a year now and has been reported a lot of times. The flooding caused by the blockage has rendered one of our fire exits impassable in an emergency. And now the putrid smell has started to enter our main public bar area. Leading to many complaints. Please send out a team to at least try to ease the issue . Thankyou.

Water loging (8 m in length), 13th May

Mon, 13 May 2024 23:00:32 +0100
51.449569 -2.59671

To the Council Members, Repeatedly, we have raised a critical issue that directly impacts the well-being of our community, yet it appears that our pleas have fallen on deaf ears. For too long, the streets outside our businesses have turned into impassable rivers every time it rains, inflicting severe damage to our livelihoods. The basement of the restaurant gets submerged under the water. Vehicles passing by often hurl water into the establishment. We have suffered a big loss because of your inability to act and do your respective job. Over the past eighteen months, we have tirelessly brought this matter to your attention, only to be met with silence and neglect. It is incomprehensible that such blatant disregard for the welfare of citizens persists unchecked. We demand immediate action from the Council to rectify this gross negligence. Your failure to address this pressing issue is not only irresponsible but also indicative of a blatant disregard for your duty to serve the people who entrust you with their well-being. Polite appeals have yielded no results, leaving us with no choice but to employ stronger language to convey the urgency of the situation. Members of the Council, it is time to stop shirking your responsibilities and start fulfilling the obligations you have been elected to uphold. The citizens of this community will no longer tolerate this inaction. Take decisive action now, before further harm is inflicted upon our businesses and our livelihoods. Failure to act promptly will only serve to demonstrate your indifference to the suffering of those you have sworn to serve. We refuse to accept any further delays or excuses. The time for action is now.

These slabs are only a few months old and are being wrecked by vehicles parking on the pavement along this stretch. Can we lay a surface that can handle the weight of vehicles, or (ideally) take some preventative action to stop pavement parking here?

Illegal parking on double yellows by taxi drivers, 13th May

Mon, 13 May 2024 14:23:20 +0100
51.466336 -2.579802

There is a consistent issue of illegal parking on two double yellow lines by taxi drivers, immediately after the traffic light (on the left if coming from M32). This occurs at all times of the day but is particularly prevalent in the evening and night. Additionally, there is a concerning trend of taxis unexpectedly stopping to park and drivers opening doors without warning after parking, posing a safety risk to pedestrians and other road users. Also, blocking the road coming off the Lower Ashley Road.

Illigal car park on double yellows, 13th May

Mon, 13 May 2024 12:05:56 +0100
51.464688 -2.586164

I am writing to bring to your attention a recurring issue regarding illegal parking on Dalrymple Road. At the end of Dalrymple Road, near the dead end, there are double yellow lines indicating no parking. However, despite these restrictions, numerous cars are consistently parked on these double yellow lines, obstructing the area where vehicles are supposed to turn around. This illegal parking situation makes it extremely difficult, and sometimes impossible, for residents to maneuver their vehicles, particularly when attempting to turn around at the end of the road. As the road is a dead end, proper turning space is essential for safety and convenience. I have documented this issue with photographs of the offending vehicles, which I am willing to provide as evidence. It is concerning that despite the clear signage and restrictions, some individuals continue to disregard the parking regulations, causing inconvenience to residents and posing a risk of accidents. As residents of the neighborhood who rely on on-street parking, this situation greatly impacts our daily lives. The constant struggle to find available parking spaces due to these illegally parked vehicles exacerbates the problem, leading to frustration and inconvenience for all residents.

In the highway at 93 Kingsdown parade there is a disabled parking bay - arranged for a resident who sadly died over a year ago. There are several other disabled bays in the very near vicinity - and parking is extremely limited here - forcing people with mobility restrictions to have to walk considerable distances from their homes. Please remove these bay markings.

Large open top bins here that are used by the surrounding apartments. Usually overflowing with refuse. Like this most days of the week. No lids on the bins so seagulls tear open bags and spread rubbish everywhere. Needs to be addressed. More bins? Bins with lids? Thank you.
