Disabled parking bay - Phoenix car park, Lewes, 1st May
On our visit to Lewes yesterday, we parked in the Phoenix car park.
The disabled parking bay we know, the one opposite Giles (Hot Tubs & Pools).
Despite making it known a couple of years ago, nothing has been done to make is easier for car passengers who are disabled,
The signage post hasn't been moved. (File 2022 copy Photo attached) Which means for some people, those whose car driver who backs their car into the parking bay, cannot open the boot to get the wheelchair out - because the disabled & signage post is in the way!
We have always had to back the car in, for the transfer zone to be on the front passenger side. However, on this occasion there was enough gap to get the wheelchair alongside.
Our car, with a built-in ‘Autochair’ car hoist - which lifts me from the car seat, (me being the front seat passenger) out of the car and lowers me into the wheelchair, meaning I need a wheelchair space alongside the car, a Blue Badge parking bay, with a transfer zone.
Unfortunately, this parking bay transfer zone slopes away from the car, making it lower than the car and more it more difficult to get back in.
This disabled parking bay really does need reconfiguring, the transfer zone being to the left side of a forward parked car.

Received information from a reside t that the street lights are not working on the path way at the end of North Street pathe way leads to Pells and the bridge

Long Tail Backs for the last few weeks, 26th April
For the last few weeks there have been huge tail backs from Ashcombe Roundabout in the Eastbound direction towards Lewes from Falmer, not an issue before, is something wrong with the sequence or phasing of the lights?

The light controlled pedestrian crossing on the West-bound carriageway of the A27 at Ashcombe roundabout, Lewes, East Sussex., 24th April
A near-miss incident occurred relating to my wife\'s safety crossing with a bicycle this morning (Wed 27\/03\/24) at about 8am from the south to the north side. She was waiting to cross the road and the lights were red and vehicles had stopped. She fortunately waited for the pedestrian light to go green. Just as she was about to cross, a van collided into the back of one of the waiting cars and pushed it forward onto the crossing and into the path of where my wife was about to cross. Had that incident been a few seconds later it could have been fatal for my wife. Advance warning signage for vehicles approaching Westbound towards Ashcombe roundabout and continuing to head West-bound towards Falmer

Loose drain cover, 22nd April
Every time a vehicle drives over the drain cover, there is a large clattering sound. Day and night! It’s disturbing everyone in the vicinity. It happened a couple of years ago and it was fixed. Sadly not for long.

Offensive graffiti needs removing, 19th April

Footpath crossing grass verge regularly blocked by vehicles, 9th April
A footpath crossing a wide verge at this location is often blocked by inconsiderate drivers parking across the path, forcing pedestrians, pushchair and wheelchair users to use the grass, uneven and muddy, instead. The attached photos illustrate the problem nicely. There's plenty of empty road available to park without bothering anyone. A short length of road marking along the lines of "PLEASE KEEP FOOTPATH CLEAR" might deter this unsociable behaviour.
