Yet another pothole in poor old Gilbert Road. The usable ( ie non- parking side) surface is awful. There is a rumour of a complete resurface sometime but my fingers can't stay crossed that long!

Road Works with no signs of any action., 20th March
We have traffic lights again on the main road into Swanage close to the Swanage School caused by gas repairs and there has been no work carried out for the last 8 days. They have disabled the pedestrian crossing which is used by the school children. With Easter coming next week, these lights will cause chaos with the holiday traffic.

1 year delay in reopening Blutchers Lane, 1st February
Blutchers Lane is part of Priests Way which was constructed several hundred years ago to enable the priest at Worth Matravers church to visit St Mary's church at Swanage. The path has been in regular use for over 20 years and satisfies Section 31 of the Highways Act 1980. Last year a stone wall fell down and has recently been repaired. There is still a lot of rubble on the path which Dorset Council has closed and one resident is now saying it is not a right of way. I would like the Council to reopen the path as soon as possible and to let me know when it will be reopened. It provides me with a safe, traffic free route to the church and the shops.

Concerns for reported gas leak with no one working., 3rd November
I have concerns that we have 4 way traffic lights just outside the Swanage School and all this week there have been no workers on site. This is very worrying as the disruption is because of a suspected gas leak. Surely with the close proximity of the school this should be top priority in case of an explosion. Also with the four way traffic lights the delays are unacceptable, especially when the students are arriving and leaving school and using the Pelican Crossing. I have passed these works every day this week and the delay is a minimum of 4 minutes, and my secretary had to wait 25 minutes on Wednesday when the pupils were using the crossings. Please get this bottleneck cleared as soon as possible.

Kids climbing wall broken, 10th August
The bracket which secures the climbing wall at the midpoint has become detached and has exposed a sharp edge from where it was dressed with a grinder. I think it might be able to be repositioned if the fixings are loosened and the climbing wall board moved over back into it's original position.

Overgrown footpath, 2nd June
This footpath runs between Steer Road and Bell Street. The Bell street end has quite a lot of low hanging bushes making entry tricky, particularly in the dark (I live halfway along this alleyway). The Steer Road end is very overgrown all along the sides making it difficult to get in and out with shopping and bins etc. It’s been growing steadily since about April but now it’s got too much and needs dealing with please.

Pavement too narrow, 12th September
The pavement on Priests road between the top of Hillsea road and South road is too narrow for pedestrians and impossible for wheelchairs and prams and pushchairs to use. There is no pavement on the opposite side as this is all grass verge. The problem becomes worse during holidays etc. as parked cars make it impossible for even single pedestrians to use and people are forced to walk down the middle of the road. This is even more dangerous towards sunset as this is an east/west facing road and drivers can be dazzled by the sun. A wider pavement is needed along with some traffic calming measures.
