Pothole, 6th March
A deep pot hole has been on the exit slip road at junction 11 on the M65 going to Burnley. It has been there a number of weeks and myself and others have damaged my tyre(£175) and others have caused wheel damage and had to be towed away. It is also dangerous as people are swerving at the last minute into the inside lane causing near bumps. Burnley Council and Lancs County Council have informed me that it is a problem that has to be reported to you.

Extremely dangerous Road Surface., 11th February
The off slip on the South Bound A56 carriageway at the Junction with Sandy Lane is extremely dangerous and poses a serious risk to life and or risk of serious injury. This is the third time in as many months that I have reported the issue of stones and pebbles that cover the mouth of the junction below the cattle grid. The loose stones are causing vehicles to skid when exiting at this point, therefore posing a serious safety risk. There is a similar problem with loose stones in the central reservation cross over refuge at this junction too. This problem needs addressing urgently simply closing the reports after a couple of days is not good enough, the stones and debris need removing from these two points to make them safe. There has been a blatant lack of due diligence here and the safety issues here need to be addressed.

Lethal road surface due to loose stones., 13th January
The A56 South bound junction with Sandy Lane. This problem was reported way back in November 2023 and has still not been made safe. Loose stones and debris have been washed down below the cattle grid into the mouth of this junction. Loose stones are also gathered in the cross over holding point in the central reservation at this junction. It is treacherous to all motorists trying to alight the main carriageway at these two points as the loose stones cause vehicles to skid and loose control. The debris and loose stones need urgently removing from these two points before a serious incident occurs.

Sandbags, water run off, stone on the sandy lane junction exit and central revervation, 26th November
There has already been reports of flooding moving stone onto the exit of the a56 / sandylane junction. Highways I think have put sandbags on the junction exit basically following the white line which is even more dangerous as cars trying to exit are confronted with sand bags as you try to turn off, some have consequently been run over and split, so now there is sand plus water plus loose stones on the exit of the junction and also partly in the motorway and central reservation. It's extremely dangerous for cars exiting and joining.

Flooding in three places!, 22nd November
X 3 locations where water is flooding across both southbound carriageways which doesn't clear even after dry weather. This will turn to ice during freezing weather and due to the high speeds vehicles travel is sure to cause countless accidents. More so during dark commuting mornings!. Mainly along the top high sections.

Lamp post replacement required., 19th November
The lamp post above the cattlegrid on the A56 Northbound junction at Sandy Lane Accrington has been out of action for over 12 months now. Workmen removed the bulk of the damaged pole months ago leaving just the stump taped up. The lack of lighting here at this busy junction is extremely dangerous for drivers, pedestrians and horse riders alike. This lamp post needs urgently replacing.

Loose stones washed down onto slip road and central reservation cross over., 19th November
This extremely dangerous situation was previously reported to you on this site on the 11th November 2023 And has still not been rectified or at the very least warning signs being placed. Exiting the Southbound carriageway of the A56 Major Trunk Road at the Sandy Lane junction is severely compromised by the road stone that has washed down below the cattlegrid into the mouth of the junction. The same problem with loose stones in the central reservation cross over area at this junction is lethal, it is akin to driving on marbles when trying to exit at these points. This is a serious HAZARD that requires immediate attention before people are seriously injured or it becomes another fatal statistic at this dangerous junction.

Due to the rain, stones, 11th November
This exit junction from the a56 and the central reservation junction to cross the lanes is very dangerous due to the debris that has come down the game lane onto the junction due to the rain. As there is no slip road, speed is an issue and then you skid on the stones.

Obscured oncoming vehicles as you turn off the A56 onto Sandy lane, 15th June
There have been a significant number of accidents and even fatalities on this stretch of road. I live on Sandy Lane and my only access is off the A56. It is terrifying trying to turn onto Sandy Lane as well as trying to join the A56. I really think something serious needs to be done about this. You can no longer see oncoming vehicles as the grass has grown so long. I am aghast as to why more has not been done to make this road safe. Reduction of the speed limit and average speed cameras really need to be considered. How many more lives must be lost?!

Abandoned Car, 13th December
There is an abandoned car - Black VW Polo, that crashed into a lamp post over the weekend. It is causing an issue as it has been parked where residents park and this is having a knock-on effect as residents are parking all over to accommodate it. The snow is also having an impact as when parking further down the hill - due to the abandoned car, it is much harder due to the momentum of the incline!

Repeated theft of wheelie bins, 1st October
Each time I take one of our wheelie bins out to the end of the alley for collection, I know I'll be lucky to get it back! Some completely selfish neighbors (unknown how many households) are evidently stealing our clearly marked wheelie bins when they've been emptied for extra capacity for themselves, if we don't get to them first. This causes us to have a sanitary issue, having to deal with the refuse until we can get it back on the next collection date. Completely fed up of having to line our car boot with tarps and drive to the tip with smelly bags of rubbish due to some scummy neighbor(s).
Council is uninterested in doing anything about it, despite it ultimately being their property that has been stolen, and if we were a different family, could end up flytipping the refuse rather than making the journey to the tip. They even had the cheek to suggest that if we don't manage to get it back then we'd have to PAY for a new bin. God knows where our council tax goes.
