The road has totally broken up and riddled with deep pot holes for about 200 yards. Also cars are always parked up outside the houses, so both traffic have to use the one side of the road. Cars shouldn't be parked that close to a junction anyway. Should be double yellow lines!

Road signs, 12th October

Mon, 12 Oct 2009 14:48:54 +0100
52.2496517802544 -1.98626798637307

The roads signs at the top of Moors lane, of which there are two either side of the lane junction with Alcester Road are completely detached from the ground. One is bent and has concrete attached to one of it's legs, suggesting that it has been knocked lose of removed when the land was resurfaced. Both signs are dangerously propped up and leaning into the hedges on either side of the lane. They are both unsightly and could do with replacing. They are a danger to vehicles, as a vehicle turns into or out of the lane, they could easily been hooked onto the vehicle or knocked into the main road.

Bridleway, 11th June

Hi, I am throughly annoyed, by the lack of maintenance on this bridleway. There is a vehicle track that accesses our house. At the point where the indicator is the bridleway follows a different path to our track, however as the bridleway is not maintained, walkers and horses and bikers, use our track instead of the correct bridleway/footpath. The bridleway then accesses the track again further down. The bridleway is completely over grown and no-one can get onto it. I have tried to tell the owners of this land that they must keep the track/bridleway and footpaths open for access, but they have ignored me and I need some help please to sort this out. The track that gives us vehicle access is stated on our deeds as our responsibility to maintain and when we bought our house, we spent approx £10,000 stoning this track to drive along it in some comfort, however as it is used by so many other, including the refuse, environment agency, horse riders, walkers, bikers, post man etc etc, it seems totally unfair that we have no help maintaining this access. I understand from the 'rights of way act' that the county council own or are responsible for the surface of the public right of way,I then understand that the owners of the land should cut back undergrowth and weeds to the sides of the public right of way to ensure that there is a certain width for proper access, depending on the type of access, whether footpath, bridleway, byway or other roadway. Could you tell me what you think our access track to our house is, if it is not 'other roadway' as defined in the act. I understand that we should therefore have a three metre clearance, at the moment in places we have two metres, not enough to drive a car down, without scratching the sides. I need some help here and I know that the county council are in charge of this and that they should be following the Act. Could someone please help.

Adopted road, 9th September

Tue, 09 Sep 2008 14:57:13 +0100

It appears from the plan that is supplied with this site that this road is adopted to the point of the shed which houses the local Beadle pack. Then the question is why is the surface only maintained to the very top of the lane. It has its name all the way down to the access track at Bean Hall Mill on some o.s. plans. The Worcestershire Wylde Life trust have a facility at the bottom of the Lane for leisure purposes, how can these facilities be accessed properly by locals and interested parties. They advertise parties to visit from Schools etc, but the Lane is covered in water and potholes, with bumps to rip the bottom of your car off. You could say that the fact that the council Dustbin carts and any emergency vehicles that need access should be charged to do so, as they are contributing to the damage. I think that in consideration of your request for me to leave a photo on this site, it is not in question as to whether the council know abou this problem, as neighbours have been trying for years to get something done. We pay £1900.00 a year in council tax to not access our property effectively, what happens if we need medical or fire assistance, we die!!. I know that the council is always short of money, but when was the descision made to favour other residents of Worcestershire compared to us. The Lane is a vital communication road for all the properties, it gives access to BT, Central networks, has a massive Gas mains running across the land, is used by the council for rubbish collection, the postal service for deliveries and the Environment agency for taking samples of the river water that they are responsible for, it is used by community groups for bird watching, until recently Andy's Barns was a livery yard, providing services for local people and the public rights of way Bridleway/footpaths are used to an extent. I can't see disabled people being able to access it, i have read that this is a priority for future accessibility to the countryside and that leisure facilities and enjoyment of open/green space is set down in the council's local plan. well if you want to make this area a place for tourism, leisure and development do something positive and give people the chance to use it.
