The Old Malton Railway Walk and Worsley Woods are popular nature trails in the area, while the RSPB Bempton Cliffs, Cayton Bay and Filey Bird Garden provide plenty of opportunity to observe wildlife.

Cultural attractions in the area include the Talbot Hotel in Malton, the Norton Millenial Maze on the outskirts of Malton, and the Castle Howard estate. Ryedale Folk Museum provides an insight into the region's history, while the McArthur Glen Shopping Outlet in York makes for a great day out.
