FIXMYSTREET IN WF8 4BD
The following problems have been reported on Fix My Street within 2 miles of WF8 4BD:
Land drainage issuen, 18th March
This problem has been ongoing for several years. It’s located between the estate greens between numbers 24 & 25 wild orchid way and is where the main footpath from green to green cross the road. It appears to be land drainage as water seeps out from inbetween the curb edgings, however, Yorkshire water are out to investigate. Their employee suggests it doesn’t look to be a leak, but said they will investigate to rule out. It currently is extremely bad as there appears to be an investation of maggots all across the road encroaching onto both greens. It is also particularly bad in the winter as the entire span of the road freezes up. Could this please be investigated and dealt with? Thankyou

Loose manhole cover, 28th November
A loose manhole cover that has been loose before, fixed and has now become loose again. Been a couple of weeks now at least and it is seemingly getting louder by the day so I assume whatever damage underneath is it is getting worse the more traffic goes over it. It is a busy side street so a lot of traffic at all times. It's straight outside mine and a neighbours house so when trying to listen to the TV it is very noticeable. Also we can now hear it in bed from the other side of the house and it's REALLY annoying. Needs attention ASAP as no doubt something has failed and the integrity is compromised so if left longer it could result in an accident.

Road markings., 7th September
I think more road markings are needed on this road, ie for the left hand lane a left/straight on arrow and a right only arrow for the right hand lane. Drivers who don't know this road are having to brake and change lanes quiet late and close to the roundabout. If there hasn't been any accidents at this point, I'm afraid there probably will be.

Road surface, 17th June
Hello the road on chequerfield circle wf8 2an is in need of repair on the roundabout the center has been like this for as long as I can remember. Last year the road on west drive was repaired wf8 2an. I pay for the privalidge of driving and I expect the roads I use to be in a reasonable condition, I remember roads were always repaired when car tax was used to fund repairs for our roads. Please do repairs it is dangerous ¾ way round the roundabout and is a BUS rout. Kind Regards John Powell.

The pond at the racecourse is filthy, a dead fish was bobbing at the surface at one side and then a dead magpie at the other (pictured). There seems to be a lot of rubbish here too which isn’t good for the living wildlife.

Speeding now dangerous junction, 24th May
It has now become increasingly difficult and dangerous to exit the street Lake View. This has become a problem since the new road De Lacey Way was opened. As it has become a more popular and familiar route to drivers (both local and commercial traffic) And as the population in and around Pontefract has increased substantially, the junction has simply become more dangerous. I am a competent, confident and experienced driver with advanced driving skills and I have had two near misses in the last three months alone. There is a 20mph limit clearly marked but drivers regularly exceed that speed as they pass the sign. I would estimate that some drivers, particularly those travelling from the direction of the M62 gyratory at junction 33 are almost travelling at double that speed as they pass that 20mph sign at the end of Lake View. Once they pass the sign they’re entering a hazard awareness test! It is a heavily built up area with a zebra crossing metres away. There is a care home and sheltered housing. There are several other junctions and side streets within a short distance. And there is lots of local and commercial traffic particularly at certain times of day. With parked vehicles stopping at the shops throughout the day obscuring the view of the roads and pavements, including the view of the zebra crossing. There are also accompanied and older unaccompanied school children walking to and from school. To exit Lake View you need to assess all of what I’ve described and you are exiting at a crossroads with traffic coming from the left (Ladybalk Lane) from the right (De Lacey Way) and directly opposite (Skinner Lane). At rush hour in the morning and evening there are few breaks in the traffic flow at the busiest times. The first near miss I had the other vehicle was travelling from De Lacey Way right to left across the Lake View entrance /exit. It was 8am. The view was obscured by thick overgrown verges. Even though I managed to stop because I saw him at second glance and was only moving off; he was travelling so fast that he swerved onto the wrong side of the road rather than trying to emergency brake. He had clearly not seen me. The second near miss was in similar circumstances in the afternoon around school pick up 1430. Each time the accident would likely have had an impact capable of causing life changing injuries because of the speeds involved.
