Big deep pothole, 9th February
The road surface on this road has been terrible for months but over the last day, a big pothole has appeared that looks like a crater, it’s very deep and hard to avoid when there is oncoming traffic. I unfortunately failed to miss it and it was terrible on my car, it made me panic and shook me up, I’m surprised there is no damage

A1 Road works. Traffic taking short cuts to avoid queing large trucks making potholes and causing havoc to local villages. Why not divert traffic down the M18 to M62 and join the A1 at Ferrybridge . The potholes that have supposedly been repaired are not fit for purpose putting loose stone in the holes just get pushed out the first time a truck goes over them it must cost more to do that than do them properly the people who do these jobs must be getting paid for doing a job thats not fit.there will be a serious accident with traffic going to fast and not knowing the roads., 14th December
Traffic taking short cuts to avoid the roadworks on wentbridge flyover causing havoc to roads and villages. Why were they not told to stay on the M18 to M62 and rejoin at Ferrybridge thus avoiding snarl ups in the villages and Pontefract.

There are numt holes, 21st April
This is the third complaint regarding this road!!.
This is an absolute discrace. There is potholes all over this road and the repairs done are a joke. I've now noticed yet again that there are parts sprayed with paint to yet again touch up parts). this is ridiculous, as it needs completely resurfacing!! The surface is so uneven that it is causing cars to drive on the opposite side of the road to try to avoid which is extremely dangerous. There are rocks on the road and thick mud when the weather is wet and it is causing damage to my vehicle. This area of road needs completely resurfacing and this has all been caused by the heavy vehicles from the quarry entrance. Something really needs to deal with this. I am not the only person complaining about this as I have seen on your website many complaints. I think the Police need to be aware of the risk of a serious accident due to some vehicles having to drive on the opposite side of the road to try to avoid the uneven surfaces and potholes.
Can this finally be dealt with and a discussion with the quarry to deal with the completely unacceptable dirt and debris left on the road!!! (The lorries need to be washed off before leaving the quarry would be a simple solution)

A1 south exit onto went edge road, 5th January
Due to vehicles using the unauthorised lay-by what they’ve made the road is covered in mud after it’s rained. Why can you not close this off ? I witnessed a vehicle skid on Monday 2nd January 2023 where he skidded on the road and ended up in the ditch, I rang 101 but said it was down to the driver for recovery. But I can only presume the mud and water at this location didn’t help the situation.

Damaged/corroded looking bridge, A1, 6th December
The Wentedge Road bridge over the A1 looks in bad shape. Much of the concrete on its supports is corroding and large patches of rebar are exposed to the elements. The bridge could be in a weakened condition or prone to further deterioration.
