Lots of potholes in middle of road and sides, 6th May

Sun, 06 May 2018 01:09:32 +0100

There are lots and lots of potholes around here and there are cars parked close by and on such a narrow road you are bound to hit a pothole even if you try to dodge it. They have tried fixing it by covering it up but whoever did it are useless because it loosening and leaves lots of stones around which can also do damage to vehicles.

Very deep potholes as you come off roundabout, 26th January

Fri, 26 Jan 2018 21:36:23 +0000

As you come off the roundabout by Wakefield 41 Business Park, heading towards the M1, there is a very deep pothole on the inside lane. I've been unlucky enough to have driven over it several times as I use this road to go to work everyday. If there's a vehicle in the outside lane you can't avoid it but its so bad I have to check my car for damage every time when I get to work as the suspension bottoms out.

Parking on both sides of the road making road impassable, 10th December

Sun, 10 Dec 2017 17:59:41 +0000

Cars park at the end of Royds Grove (cul de sac) to a point where the road is impassable to anything bigger than a fiat 500 (for example). They also park within 5 feet of the junction. This seems to becoming more of an issue, especially over the last 12 or so months. This is obviously concerning as what if someone in the street requires an ambulance or the fire service. It is not known who owns the majority of these vehicles, as it is not those in Royds Grove, but it is every night from 6pm onwards.

Constantly blocking driveways, parking on white lines, dangerous parking on junction, 1st November

Wed, 01 Nov 2017 16:37:12 +0000

Every single school day people park their cars dangerously and inconsiderately on Kirkham Avenue. Below are some of the suggestions we (the residents) have made to the school to be passed on to parents etc: • Ask themselves as they park – does an Ambulance or Fire Engine have enough room to get through to an emergency in the Avenue? The length of time they are parked obstructing access for an emergency vehicle, is long enough to prevent the emergency services from saving a life. • Ensure cars are parked on only one side of the Avenue, as opposed to both sides of the road and/or opposite each other. • Not park on any grassy areas, as this just churns up the grass over time, which is unsightly and dangerous for those of us who live here. We are sure they would not like us to do that in their neighbourhood. • Point out it is not only illegal but also incredibly dangerous to park so close to the junction at the top of the Avenue. • Do not obstruct or block our driveways. Residents are entitled to drive in and out of our own driveways safely, 24 hours a day/7 days a week, without causing damage to our own or other’s vehicles. Please also point out that we do need to be able to ‘swing’ our cars into our drives, we cannot just turn in at a right angle! • If they cannot respect us, then perhaps they should park somewhere else or walk? There have been occasions when residents have explained to the offending car owner, that continuous access and egress is required, for example due to an extremely ill, hospitalised relative. It is not pleasant to be sworn at, when politely asking them to move their cars. • Reduce the number of cars by car sharing. • Do not use both family cars to get to school. We have seen on numerous occasions over the years, both parents turning up in TWO separate cars, especially when there is an event at the school. We are begging you for help before someone gets injured, knocked down or killed. I'm not sure how clear the attached photos are, I can always resend them. Many thanks Kirkham Avenue residents

Same driver parking several cars on the blind corner of moxon street/moxon way, 22nd October

Sun, 22 Oct 2017 11:33:06 +0100

The same driver whom i believe lives in one of the terraced house in moxon street constantly parks his vehicles on the junction between moxon street and moxon way thus causing traffic issues with entering and leaving moxon way. he is parking on a junction and within 10 metres of the junction as well as parking on a blind corner. he has been told by residents before about this but refuses to move his vehicles. we believe that this individual is a motor trader/ dealer who parks several different vehicles on a regular basis on this corner and causes a severe obstruction. this issue has been present for a few years now.
