The postcode provides access to local shops and services, as well as recreational parks and other amenities.

The postcode area also includes residential areas, such as Seaton Carew, Grindon, Norton, and Seaton Village. Through these areas, the postcode provides access to schools, health centers, libraries, and leisure centers, such as the Tees Barrage Adventure and Water Park, and the South Stockton Market.

The area has a rich history—some of its original buildings, such as The Washington Inn, date back to the 1600s. Billingham and surrounding villages are world-renowned for their cultural heritage, with many sculptures, art installations, and historical monuments dotted throughout the towns illustrating the area's past.

The local transport links also facilitate access to larger cities and towns such as Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle, with regular rail and bus services. The A19, which is the main road running through the district, and the A66 provides further connections from the region to the wider North East.

Furthermore, the postcode district is known for its natural beauty; of particular note are the parks along the River Tees, the Seaton Carew Dunes, and the Castle Eden Walkway, which provide an ideal spot for walking and outdoor activities. The TS20 postcode is also home to numerous churches, such as St Paul's in Stockton-on-Tees, and St John's in Seaton Carew. As such, the postcode is often regarded as a spiritual and cultural gateway to the wider region.
