The TS2 postcode district has an approximate population of 12,150, half of whom are over the age of 45. The area is served by local bus services, Acklam railway station and easy access to the wider tees valley.

The area is served by a range of leisure activities, including two golf courses and a bowling green, a range of football pitches and sports centres and the Polish Community Centre located in Pennyman Square.

TS2 is home to an increasing range of cultural facilities, including a public library, acoustically designed theatre and art gallery, a number of local pubs and restaurants and several live music venues. It is also home to a range of educational establishments, including Acklam Grange Comprehensive School, Acklam Whin Primary School, Nunthorpe Primary School and Southlands Nursery.

The postcode is policed by the Cleveland Police, is in the Middlesbrough North constituency and is represented by Conservative MP, Jacob Young. The postcode district is part of the Middlesbrough Urban Subdivision which has a total population of 154,448, according to the 2011 census.
