Pothole, 8th January
If there is a conflict between National Highways reporting system and Wiltshire councils reporting system as to who repairs damage to the M4 junction 17 roundabout then it should be down to the two organisations to resolve. Not road users reporting damage. Additionally the recent “improvements” to the roundabout did nothing to address the long term very poor road surface on the north side of the roundabout. It’s been poor for years and is still poor post improvements. It’s rubbish.

Large pothole prevoiusly reported twice, 5th January
This pothole has been reported twice. Its has deteriorated considerably since the last report. Its now massive.
National Highways state that repair of this roundabout is down to Wiltshire Council. I have tried to report damge to the road surface on this roundabout via the Wiltshire Council Report it App and strangely it will not let you report damge on this roundabout as it says it is the responsibility of National Highways to repair. That probaly conveniently explains why the pot holes on this roundabout never get repaired. Maybe someone from National Highways should contact Wiltshire council and discuus who is actually responsible for maintaining this major roundabout.

3 potholes on Chippenham m4 junction roundabout north side., 16th December
3 pothole in vicinity of traffic lights north bound side of roundabout. They have been there for well over a year. The one on the roadabout bridge for years. It keeps being repaired. Given the vast amount of work that had been done on this roundabout over the past year to give improved access to the new warehouse site. Why has provision not been given to basics like fixing the long term pot holes?

No traffic lights, 25th October
Carried out at this junction, so the proper traffic lights are not working. There were temporary traffic lights here a few weeks ago but have now been removed. In the mornings this has become a death trap as the traffic exiting the motorway queues in both lanes up the slip road and back onto the motorway because it takes so long for the traffic to get out onto the roundabout at the top

Dangerous change in road layout, 17th October
Hello
I'm concerned the changes to no lights on the m4 junction 17 exit to Chippenham is slightly dangerous. The line markings have historically indicated you can safely be in the left lane to turn right, which was fine as the lights stopped any other traffic. Since the lights have stopped it is not particularly obvious you can no longer do this, and it's causing a lot of near misses between people coming off junction 17 and then people going on at junction 17 to Swindon.
Given this was planned work it feels like signs or warnings could have been more prominent (if its there, I'm not seeing it)

Along m4 heading to Tormarton, 17th April
I am currently on a coach heading to London, I saw on the side on the green verge a black spaniel left by a tree. They had a light coloured collar on and just by a tree. There was no owners nearby no cards either. It looked like it was left there.

Poor temporary lights at M4 junction 17 roundabout, 14th April
Due to poor signalling there is over a one mile tailback on the A429 from Malmesbury to the M4 junction 17 roundabout. The tailback is caused by traffic using the A429 trying to get to Chippenham and traffic on the road about blocking access because the lights are not remaining green for long enough.

Lengthy delays because of poorly managed roadworks, 6th February
There is work being carried out on the motorway roundabout at junction 17 of the M4, The sequencing of the traffic lights are resulting in long delays on the approaches to the roundabout as there are cars being allowed on to the roundabout which clog up the single lane available meaning that in some directions traffic is un able to move. This work is due to last for 10 months so some soert of remedy is essential.
