Swindon (SN13)

The SN13 postcode area is located in the Swindon postcode town region, within the county of Wiltshire, and contains a total of 802 individual postcodes.

There are 37 electoral wards in the SN13 postcode area, including Calne, Chippenham, Corsham, Devizes, Faringdon, Malmesbury, Marlborough, Melksham, Pewsey, Swindon which come under the local authority of the Wiltshire Council.

Combining the whole postcode region, 33% of people in SN13 are classed as having an AB social grade, (i.e. 'white-collar' middle-upper class), compared to 27% across the UK.

This does not mean that the people of SN13 are wealthier - or higher class - than average, but it can be an indication that the area may be prospering and desirable to live in.

SN13 is a postcode district launched in 2012, and is based in the North East Wiltshire town of Corsham. It was formed from the existing SN12 postcode area as part of the national overhaul of the UK's postcode system. SN13 covers the western portion of Corsham, including all of the housing estates, as well as the village of Gastard and the hamlet of Neston.

As it covers a small, rural area, SN13 mainly consists of detached houses, small terraced housing, and purpose-built retirement apartments. The postcode district also contains a few commercial premises along Pickwick Road and The Strand, and there are two schools located in SN13, King Edward's Primary and The Corsham School. The town centre lies just outside SN13, in neighbouring SN14.

SN13 has a population of 8,823 according to the Office of National Statistics (2018), which is an increase of 1,000 since the 2011 census. Corsham is itself growing, which may be partly due to the influx of new, younger families.

Corsham is a pleasant and peaceful town surrounded by countryside and woodland, with excellent nearby amenities and transport links. Gastard and Neston offer a small number of local shops and pubs, as well as some popular walking routes. Through a series of cycle and walking paths, SN13 residents have access to nearby Lacock, Melksham, Chippenham, and other large towns and villages.

The postcode is served by two main bus operators, Wilts & Dorset and Faresaver, with regular stops at Fairfield, Corsham Court, and at Warwick Road. There are also two railway stations in SN13, Pickwick Halt and Gastard Station, with regular services to/from Chippenham, Westbury, and Bath Spa. The M4 motorway is approximately five miles away.
