All the villages included in SA38 are contained within Ceredigion county council and Powys county council areas and share a common border with both counties.

It is also home to a number of national parks such as Bannau Brycheiniog, Mynydd Cilcennin and the Cambrian Mountains.

The postcode is serviced by many transportation options; there are multiple bus routes connecting the villages, local train services, and an airstrip, Llanerfyl Airfield. The two closest motorway services are A483 (Wales) and M40 (England).

The SA38 postcode is also serviced by a range of health facilities, such as Blaenywaun Medical Centre, Rhianfa Surgery (Powys), and the local hospital of Bronglais (Ceredigion).
