The area contains many amenities and landmarks such as Singleton Park, the National Waterfront Museum, and the popular Mumbles promenade. In addition, Swansea is home to Rhossili Bay, a National Trust beach and nearby to the Mumbles Lighthouse, the second oldest lighthouse in Wales.

SA3 is home to Swansea University and Swansea University Hospital, the largest hospital in the area. The postcode area also contains several shopping areas for local residents to enjoy including the Uplands area which is a popular morning brunch and shopping hotspot. Sa3 also has multiple sports clubs and outdoor areas including Gowerton Sports Club, three athletic stadiums and a cricket pitch known as the St. Helen's Ground.

In terms of transport, SA3 benefits from multiple bus routes as well as two nearby train stations - Swansea High Street train station in the City Centre and the Swansea Grand Theatre in the Uplands. Relatively close to the SA3 area is the Swansea Bay campus which is the new home of the Swansea University and provides students and staff with an array of resources in the local area.

The SA3 postcode is well-connected to the rest of Wales thanks to the M4 motorway. Home to over 4,500 residential and business addresses, SA3 is the ideal postcode for commuters with Cardiff being just over an hour away by car.
